Weekly Tarotcast™: 1-22-19 through 1-29-19
Seven of Swords
This week’s Tarotcast card is the Seven of Swords. It represents intellectual and mental fluctuation. It shows healthy skepticism when circumstances are uncertain or “the whole story” isn’t readily available. There is a self-protective energy to this card. This helps us actively guard against being taken advantage of, or taken in by, other people. With the positive energy of this card, we can root out self-deception and reveal the deceits of others, if those exist. The downside is using tolerance or compromise when those approaches are disastrous.
When the element of Air – mental energy – is influenced by instinctive and instinctual behavior, we may be lulled into a false sense of security. The urge to appease or practice passive diplomacy can allow us to be preyed upon by more ruthless or violent people.
The Number 7
The Sevens of the Minor Arcana illuminate the motives for manifesting their respective suits and elements. Balance gives way to questioning and exploration as well as the disruption which naturally arises from the search for the underlying causes of creative action. The sevens dissolve and deconstruct.
On the Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 7: sephiroth or sphere 7, Netzach (meaning Victory, sphere of Venus; the masculinized Female) in the suit of Swords (Yetzirah, the formative world; the element of Air – our intellect and mental processes) plus the Moon in Aquarius (more on that in a moment) equaling Futility.
This card symbolizes the Moon in Aquarius and rules from 20 to 30 degrees Aquarius, or February 9th through February 18th. If your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. The moon doesn’t necessarily highlight Aquarius’ better qualities, so inner doubts and indecision along with the impulse to deceive one’s self or others are the pitfalls here.
In real-time astrology, the Sun began its transit of Air-sign Aquarius on January 20th (through February 18). On January 24th, Mercury enters Aquarius. Since Mercury is the Messenger of the Gods, we would do well to listen carefully to the messages that will be coming in swiftly and perhaps unexpectedly.
The Sun and Mercury meet in Aquarius on January 29th. This Sun-Mercury conjunction shares many of the qualities of a Full Moon. Projects or plans that you began on or around November 27th last year will come to fruition or conclusion.
Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes craftiness, slyness, cunning and even paranoia. We may need to keep our cards close to our vests, but outright mistrust and unnecessary secrecy will only complicate things this week.
Let’s focus on the positive aspects of this energy to accept possible disappointment and to turn knowledge and information to shrewd advantage.
Power colors: bright yellow, blue, silver, violet and white.
Power stones: zircon, amber, malachite, pearl, rock crystal and moonstone worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will help harmonize and bring clarity to situations where there’s more going on than meets the eye.
Power metals: Uranium (impossible to get or wear) and silver (perfect to wear) are this week’s metals. Silver conducts the most heat and electricity of all the metals, as well as being the most highly reflective. Consider those qualities for amping up the positives of this week’s energy.
Power fragrances: Scent your home, bath and body with pine, poppy, lily, white rose, gardenia, jasmine, myrrh and sandalwood to enhance the Aquarian’s natural ability to tap into information and knowledge at a moment’s need.
Power foods: Foods prepared with poppy seeds, coconut or wintergreen (mint), or tea brewed with jasmine or mint will provide the same beneficial effects.
