Weekly Tarotcast™: 5-10-16 through 5-17-16
Ace of Swords
The weekly Tarotcast card is the Ace of Swords. We’ll be experiencing the benefits of clarity, courage and mental strength this week. This kind of sharp insight is a double-edged blade and can cut both ways, so be sure that you’re using your power for constructive purposes. This is an ideal time to cut away dead weight and illusions, to pare down to core truths. We find ourselves in a decisive mood and we’re able to communicate complex ideas in fresh ways. Problem resolution is strongly favored through this entire period, so make the most of it!
On the kabalistic Tree of Life, the Aces represent the roots of the four elements, Fire, Water, Air and Earth. They are above and distinct from the other Minor Arcana cards in the same way that Kether (the Crown) is above and distinct from the Tree of life while still remaining connected to it. Not to confuse things, but the Aces are the roots or essences of their respective elements without being actual manifestations of them in their material form. They also have a closer relationship with the Princesses (Pages) of their respective suits (Wands, Cups, Swords and Disks) than they do with cards 2 through 10 of those suits.
Astrologically, this card is the root of the powers of Air and rules the Capricorn-Aquarius-Pisces quadrant of the heavens above Earth’s North Pole, and the geographical area of the Americas. Whew! I’m glad that’s done – I bet you are too.
On the kabalistic Tree of Life this card represents the 1st sephiroth or sphere of Kether (the Crown, origin) through the element of Air – Yetzirah; the Formative world and the intellect, our thinking mind.
Astrologically, for interpretive purposes, this card incorporates the energy, qualities and characteristics of the three Air signs – clarity (Gemini), justice (Libra) and rebellion (Aquarius).
In real-time astrology, just prior to this forecast period Jupiter turned direct (May 9th) and just after this forecast period, the Sun enters Air sign Gemini (May 20th). When the Sun enters Gemini, we’re more likely to feel like socializing, we’ll be more involved with other people professionally and personally, communicative, curious and active.
Don’t forget that a sword is a weapon – a finely crafted tool to cut through any obstacle or confusion. A sword extends the power of its user to fight and prevail. It can wield a cruel force, but also a clean, sharp one. The gift of the Ace of Swords is mental clarity, truth, justice and fortitude.
Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes restlessness, aggression, belligerence, premature action and limited thinking.
Let’s focus on open-mindedness, the thirst and quest for knowledge, purposeful, constructive thought and decisive power to get the best that this energy has to offer.
A little home alchemy: The power color this week is brilliant white. The purity of the Aces is singular, and doesn’t include shading or gradations, although pure white contains the prismatic colors of the visual spectrum.
Diamonds or clear quartz worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will bring clarity, mental acuity and perceptual sharpness to us this week.
Tin and copper are this week’s metals and correspond to Elemental Air energy. Though neither is great for wearing, these metals are often alloyed with other metals to enhance strength, flexibility and integrity – enough said.
Scent your home, bath and body with acacia, benzoin, clover, frankincense, lavender, myrrh, pine, vervain (verbena) and yarrow to keep a clear head and to keep your actions steady, impartial and constructive.
Foods prepared with anise, lavender and lemongrass as well as tea brewed from vervain (verbena) will provide the same beneficial effects.
