Weekly Tarotcast™: The Lovers

Weekly Tarotcast™: 2-26-19 through 3-05-19

The Lovers

This week’s Tarotcast card is The Lovers. This is one of those cards with an obvious meaning on its face. On one level, this card represents romantic partnerships, relationships and marriage.

One of the deeper meanings of this card is the importance of choice. Making correct choices applies to our whole lives, not only our love relationships. To make our best choices, we need to know who we are and what we want and need to find personal fulfillment.

Even deeper, this card is a symbol of alchemical work. The synthesis of duality through the mystical marriage or union of twins. Identical things that appear separate or different unite. These are the two aspects of our ourselves.

On the Tree of Life this card travels Path 17. Sephiroth or sphere 3, Binah (Understanding) joins with sephiroth or sphere 6, Tiphareth (Beauty). Its Hebrew letter is Zain (a sword) – surprising? It seems like that would be more in keeping with a fighter than a lover. Yet as a“weapon” the sharp blade of intellect cuts through illusion and irrelevancy. A sword comes to a point – all these things are necessary to choosing well.

This card is the zodiacal trump of Gemini, ruled by the planet Mercury. Here, twins – identical in appearance and often complementary in nature – symbolize the union of opposites. They merge into totality; two become one, and duality resolves into unity.

In real-time astrology, the Sun is currently transiting Water-sign Pisces. On March 1st, Venus enters Gemini’s fellow Air-sign Aquarius. Relationships are unpredictable, and love at first sight is possible! Changes and surprises are in the air. This transit squares Uranus (Aquarius’ ruling planet) in Fire-sign Aries. To end this forecast period, Gemini’s ruling planet Mercury retrogrades in Pisces on March 5th. Through March 28th, your imagination is a powerful tool. Analyze less, dream more.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card brings indecisiveness and inconsistency. Unenlightened self-sacrifice, imbalance, and a lack of self-insight or self-knowledge block our progress.

Let’s focus on decision-making from our hearts this week. We can muster the courage and awareness to act in our own best interests without selfishness or ego.

Power colors: orange, yellow, pale mauve and grey.

Power stones: carnelian, red coral, jade, agate and topaz. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones to help keep our minds and hearts clear as we make our choices.

Power metals: Mercury is this week’s metal. Although impossible to wear, it reminds us to remain adaptable and flexible in deciding our best course of action.

Power fragrances: scent your home, bath and body with sandalwood, musk, lilac and iris. These aid in integrating mind, heart, body and spirit.

Power foods: prepare foods with parsley, dill, lavender, lemongrass, mace, peppermint and rosemary. Brew tea from peppermint. All will enhance the benefits described.
