Weekly Tarotcast™: 10-16-18 through 10-23-18
Two of Swords
The weekly Tarotcast card is the Two of Swords. We’ll be given the opportunity to reconcile differences this week, from a prime position of equilibrium. It’s rare that we can weigh every problem and challenge with the utmost fairness; so make the most of this week’s energies of balance, justice and impartiality to heal old wounds and arrive at win-win solutions to complex problems.
On the kabalistic Tree of Life this card represents the formula 2: sephiroth or sphere 2, Chokmah (meaning Wisdom, sphere of the Zodiac and pure Masculine energy, the All-Father, Yang) in the suit of Swords (Yetzirah, the formative world; the element of Air – our intellect and mental processes) plus the Moon in Libra (more on that in a moment) equaling Peace.
The Twos of the Minor Arcana are the balanced but polarized states of their respective element. The twos are duality, and this is our way of seeing and being in the world in order to understand it; weighing and balancing things against their opposites – good vs. bad, dark vs. light, positive vs. negative. Until we differentiate, we can’t resolve and unify.
Astrologically, this card represents the Moon in Libra, and rules from 0 to 10 degrees Libra, or September 23rd through October 2nd so if your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Swords are the suit of war, disruption and violence and the old name of this card was Peace Restored – we can look at this card as a welcome but temporary break from conflict with a chance to make some genuine, positive changes.
In real-time astrology, the Sun is transiting Air-sign Libra (through October 23rd), and we experienced a New Moon in Libra prior to this forecast period (October 8th). This energy makes our relationships a priority and focuses our attention squarely on taking charge of them. It’s also perfect for working on our partnership and negotiation skills; and for resolving conflicts – all of which are harmonious with the energy of this week’s card.
Venus turned retrograde in Water-sign Scorpio on October 5th (Libra’s next-door-neighbor – through November 16th) but will move back into Libra on October 31st. Retrograde Venus will mostly influence love and finances. Things may simply not be straightforward during this period. It’s a better time to review and reflect rather than plunging ahead into new endeavors. Often during a Venus retro old friends and lovers may re-appear in our lives and could complicate current relationships. We are also more likely to reminisce about the past. This energy can be helpful in dealing with – and healing – past relationship issues.
Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes unresolved tensions, indecision, and an inability or unwillingness to take action.
Let’s focus on fulfilling our quest for knowledge and positive, constructive, peaceful activities this week.
A little home alchemy: Power colors this week include blue, blue-green, emerald green and silver.
Opal, lapis, sapphire and moonstone worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will help us with our impartial assessment of people and situations and help us draw correct conclusions and exercise good judgment.
Copper and silver are this week’s metals – copper is believed to have therapeutic properties, silver is always a beautiful choice.
Scent your home, bath and body with violet, white rose, poppy, water lily, gardenia, jasmine, myrrh and sandalwood for peaceful thoughts and calm deliberation.
Foods prepared with coconut, lotus root or teas brewed from wintergreen (mint) or jasmine will provide the same beneficial effects.
