The Fool: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

 The Fool

The Fool is this week’s Tarotcast card. The Fool represents the unlimited potential of the human spirit. Purity of intent and action. He is actually NObody’s fool. He is simply innocent of experience and embarking on the first steps of his journey. This is the journey through the spiritual paths of the Tarot and through everyday life.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life The Fool travels path 12. It joins sephiroth or sphere 1, Kether (Crown) to sephiroth or sphere 3, Binah (Understanding). Its Hebrew letter is Beth (meaning “house”). This includes not only the homes in which we live – but the temple or house of God.

One of the many secrets of the Fool – and there are many – is his direct, pure connection to the Divine. Many cultures have celebrated and revered this holy innocent. He dances through the streets in his motley clothes, clowns around and pulls silly faces. He invites us to get in on the answer to the great cosmic riddle. He tells us the punchline to the big cosmic joke. That everything is No-Thing, limitless potential – zero. And that happens to be his number in the Tarot Major Arcana.

Astrology

The Fool card is the Planetary Trump of Mercury. Mercury is the wing-footed messenger of the Gods, as well as the Trickster and Juggler. Childlike rather than childish, he trusts his instincts and creative imagination. We would do well to emulate him.

In real-time astrology, The Sun completes its transit of Water-sign Pisces. It enters Fire-sign Aries on March 20th. Aries energy is active, aggressive/assertive and ambitious. Combined with the energy of this week’s card, we may feel invincible. Take care. Avoid impulsive action. Think and plan ahead – at least a few steps ahead.

“Day after day, alone on a hill the man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still, but nobody wants to know him – they can see that he’s just a fool…”

Mercury entered Pisces on March 15th. Mercury represents the mind, the intellect and mental telepathy. Pisces rules intuition, imagination and dreams. You may find yourself tuning into others’ thoughts. Since Mercury rules reason and Pisces rules intuition, it may be hard to know fact from fantasy. Avoid slipping into a fantasy world. Regular reality checks will help.

“What a fool believes he sees – no wise man has the power to reason away.
What seems to be Is always better than nothing…”

Venus enters Aries on March 21st. Romance and love are direct and spontaneous with this transit. We’re intrigued by pursuit – love of the chase. No more looking back with this energy. We’re unlikely to apologize or explain. We may be impatient and bold. We may also be direct to the point of bluntness. Think before you speak.

“Love me, love me – say that you love me.
Leave me, leave me – just say that you need me
I can’t care about anything but you…”

On March 23rd Pluto is quintile to Chiron. This is a long-term transit. Under its influence we’re creative and inspired. We’re great at solving problems. Our focus may turn deep within for healing. We’re able to tap reserves of courage and resourcefulness.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of The Fool includes rash, irresponsible behavior. Pushing too far too fast. Carelessness, and losing complete touch with reality, along with possible dishonesty and deception.

Light

Let’s focus on being open and receptive to new beginnings and new projects. Let’s be willing to start the steps of our journey even if the destination, goal or outcome isn’t yet clear.

Alchemy

Power colors: pale yellow, sky blue, purple, violet and emerald-green. Wear them all together at the same time if you’re feeling particularly FOOL-ish.

Power stones: diamond, jade, aquamarine, turquoise and emerald. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones. These will help us enter unknown territory with trust, enthusiasm and optimism. And we will find treasure along the path.

Power metals: mercury and zinc. Neither is wearable. But their qualities remind us to be flexible. Be ready to connect with others for strength. Manage ever-changing circumstances with grace.

Power fragrances: iris, valerian, lavender, lilac, vervain, jasmine and geranium. These will help you manifest positive, creative and transformative energy this week.

Power foods: foods prepared with parsley, dill, rosemary, lemongrass, mace, peppermint and tarragon. Teas brewed from jasmine or peppermint. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.
