 VII - The Chariot

The Chariot is this week’s Tarotcast card. This card hums with “go for it” energy. It allows us to show what we have learned through experience and hard work, and to prove our abilities. We know our destination and we’re focused on getting there. We are on a journey, actual or metaphorical. We determine both the course we take and the outcome when we reach our desired destination.

On the Tree of Life, the Chariot travels path 18. It joins sephiroth or sphere 3, Binah (Understanding) to sephiroth or sphere 5, Geburah (Severity). This is Major Arcana card number 7. Its Hebrew letter is Cheth, meaning “fence”. Here is a vehicle made to move associated with boundaries and limitations. Does that seem odd? Well, here’s how it works: The Hebrew word for life, living, or alive is “Cha’i,” written in the Hebrew alphabet as, “Cheth Yod”. In Judaism, this word is an emblem of charity, longevity, and good fortune. Pretty good and powerful ways of moving through the world, right?

The Chariot tarot card is the zodiacal trump of Cancer, ruled by the Moon, with Jupiter exalted.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Air-sign Libra. Jupiter in Earth-sign Capricorn helps us to integrate and manage our expectations. We are ambitious and industrious. Our faith is strong and our dreams are within reach. Our moral and spiritual values guide us in the pursuit of our goals. Humanitarian causes have a strong appeal. We’re open to new experiences.

“So if you’re tired of the same old story oh, turn some pages…
I’ll be here when you are ready to roll with the changes…keep on rollin’…”

Mercury retrogrades in Cancer’s fellow Water-sign Scorpio beginning October 13th. We are in touch with our instincts. Hidden motivations become clear. This helps us see how our darker nature affects decisions and actions. We are likely to be sensitive. Combined with the energy of this week’s card, avoid frustration and paranoia.

On October 16th, the New Moon in Libra creates tension. It opposes Mars and squares Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn. This energy brings our relationships front and center. Take the time and attention needed to nurture yourself and your partner. Our negotiating skills are strong. We aim for conflict resolution even if it’s difficult to get there. Manage your own and others’ expectations. Avoid distractions. Ghosts of the past can deter you from success in the present.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of The Chariot card includes steamrolling others. Becoming an ego-ruled driver who runs down anything in his or her path. Frustration reaching the boiling point. Acting out in road-rage over obstacles, rough patches or detours.

Let’s focus on rolling along with both confidence and compassion. We can benefit by taking well-planned action to maintain a steady course.

Power colors: amber, green, maroon, brownish-reds, and russet.

Power stones: emerald, garnet and amber. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones. You’ll enjoy the spirit of adventure and self-discovery this card represents.

Power metal: silver. It balances sensitive lunar energies with the expansive Jupiter blessings coming your way.

Power foods: foods prepared with watercress and dandelion greens. Season with clove, sage, cinnamon, poppy seed, anise, mint, nutmeg, sage and cardamom. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.
