Your Weekly Tarotcast™: Nine of Disks

Weekly Tarotcast™:  12-12-17 through 12-19-17

 Nine of Disks

NineofDisks

The weekly Tarotcast card is the Nine of Disks.  This suit which is also called Pentacles or Coins, taps us into the energy of material comfort, financial security, and inner peace. We find a measure of stability in our finances and we’re able to enjoy and appreciate the material comforts of our homes, pets, and whatever adds physical and sensual comfort to our lives. Nature’s green, growing things – a garden, a patch of grass, a houseplant – all help to create a pleasing, harmonious environment.

The energy of this card also points us to ways in which our self-sufficiency can bring us a sense of fulfillment and completeness. We enjoy our existing relationships; even if we are looking to develop a romantic relationship, or closer friendships we can be content with our own company and find we don’t need the constant reassurance of companionship to feel at ease.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 9: sephiroth or sphere 9, Yesod (meaning Foundation – sphere of the Moon, where energy crystallizes), in the suit of Disks (Assiah, the material world; the element of Earth – our senses and physical body) plus Venus in Virgo (more on that in a moment) equaling Gain.

The Nines of the Minor Arcana bring things to a conclusion. They represent integration, fulfillment and attainment for their respective suits and elements, in this case Disks and Earth energy – the material world. When it comes to anything with material value – actual money, our finances, property, and other physical assets and resources – this card is a welcome sight!

Astrologically, this card symbolizes Venus in Virgo and rules from 10 to 20 degrees Virgo, or September 2nd through September 11th, so if your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. There is an element of sheer good luck – coupled with good planning and management – in this card.  Unexpected job and money opportunities can fall in our laps this week, as well as chances for partnerships and joint ventures that spark our creativity and enthusiasm.

In real-time astrology, the Sun enters Virgo’s fellow Earth-sign, Capricorn on December 21st. We can internalize and integrate recent life-lessons and we’re quite goal-oriented during this time. During this forecast period, the positive traits that help us achieve success are highlighted now: behaving responsibly, acting with self-discipline and remaining organized and focused.

Mercury turned retrograde on December 19th (through January 8th), beginning in Capricorn and backing up into Sagittarius on January 4th, where it will remain through the rest of the retrograde cycle.  During this transit we have little patience for small talk or frivolous pursuits. We are careful in our communication and speak only after careful consideration. Plans may go back to the drawing board not once but several times. This is a good time to reevaluate professional or life plans and goals.

Venus is currently transiting Air-sign Aquarius. Getting along with others comes easily now, and we find ourselves drawn to the unusual and unconventional. We want to interact with intelligent others and we welcome new experiences.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes greed, dullness or ignorance of spirituality, and reliance on blind luck alone to positively change our circumstances – a form of laziness.

Let’s focus on the positive gains we can make this week and be grateful for the element of luck that helps us gain security on the material – and spiritual – levels.

A little home alchemy:  Power colors this week include sky blue, greens from pale spring green to emerald, rose pink, citrine yellow and plum purple.

Carnelian, jade, jasper, opal, sapphire and lapis worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will enhance our sense of comfort, safety and stability this week.

Copper and platinum are this week’s metals.  I’d definitely go for the platinum if you’re fortunate enough to own some – and after this week, you just might be!

Scent your home, bath and body with sweetly earthy scents like chamomile, jasmine, lavender, lily, violet, rose, and plumeria to feel blessed and lucky.

Foods prepared with apple, strawberry, orange and vanilla, or teas brewed from chamomile or jasmine, will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: Ten of Disks

Weekly Tarotcast™: 12-05-17 through 12-12-17

 Ten of Disks

TenofDisks

The weekly Tarotcast card is the Ten of Disks (this suit is also called Pentacles or Coins). This week’s energy is focused on financial prosperity as well as building on a firm foundation for our personal and family life.  Materially, we find ways to grow our assets and resources. We also find creative ways to put money to good use through wise investing or smart budgeting.

The Tens of the Minor Arcana are the completion, full manifestation and culmination of the energy of their respective suits and elements.

This Ten is special, as it is the very last Tarot card: the point at which spirit manifests fully as matter, and the point which signals the reintegration of matter into spirit. It is a complete picture of the cycle of regeneration. Unlike any of the other small cards including the Tens of the other suits, the Ten of Disks has a unique mission. From the very bottom of the cosmos, it must somehow link to the innermost secret of creation and reincarnate at the very top of the Tarot cycle. Its job is to regenerate the world.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 10:  sephiroth or sphere 10, Malkuth (meaning Kingdom – the material world) in the suit of Disks (the element of Earth, Assiah – our physical bodies, and material assets or resources) plus Mercury in Virgo (more on that in a moment) equaling Wealth.

Astrologically this card corresponds to Mercury in Virgo.  It rules from 20 to 30 degrees Virgo, or September 12th through September 22nd, so if your birthday falls on or between those dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Many people forget that Mercury also rules the sign of Virgo (as well as Gemini). Mercury’s creativity and cleverness are turned to practical and productive endeavors in Virgo, so our own intelligence and willingness to work smarter rather than harder reaps big rewards this week.

In real-time astrology, just prior to this forecast period we experienced a Full Moon in Gemini (co-ruled by Mercury) and Mercury’s stationary retrograde in Sagittarius began, both on December 3rd.

This Full Moon energy may have brought a sense of urgency to our lives, a strong, sudden awakening and a desire for knowledge. We may have hurried to convey important messages, to complete important projects involving communication, or to make important announcements. Mercury’s stationary retrograde and alignment with Saturn formed a square to Neptune, complicating communication and travel. There may still be misunderstandings and misinformation around our dealings – we likely don’t have the full story.

All of the usual Mercury retrograde cautions apply – slow down, check details, try to avoid major decisions and purchases (especially technology products), and of course take extra care and build extra time into your travel plans. This energy can complement that of this week’s card if used correctly and cautiously.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes greed for money and material possessions; it also indicates a lack of understanding of the connection between the physical and the spiritual worlds.

Let’s focus on discovering the value of everyday things and understanding that wealth is more than how much money we have in our wallets or our bank accounts.

A little home alchemy:  Power colors this week include yellow, purple, grey and indigo for Mercury as well as green and plum for Virgo.

Carnelian, jade and jasper worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will help us feel comfortable, secure and generous.

This week’s metals are platinum (how’s that for feeling rich?) and of course Mercury – which can’t be worn or handled safely. Wear platinum if you’re lucky enough to own it; or mindfully aspire to it – you never know what you can attract until you try.

Scent your home, bath and body with valerian, lavender, lily of the valley and lilac to bring a sense of abundant well-being into your environment.

Foods prepared with rosemary, parsley, dill, peppermint and lemongrass will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: Two of Wands

Weekly Tarotcast™:  11-28-17 through 12-05-17

Two of Wands

TwoofWands

The weekly Tarotcast card is the Two of Wands.  This card indicates dynamic energy and the stresses and tensions – as well as the benefits – which come from it. In partnerships and collaborations, there can be friction and even conflict as each person attempts to make their point and share their ideas and feelings. If well-managed, tremendous creative energy is unleashed and can be channeled into constructive and productive projects.

The Twos of the Minor Arcana are the balanced but polarized states of their respective suit and element. The twos are duality, and this is our way of seeing and being in the world in order to understand it; weighing and balancing things against their opposites. Good vs. bad, dark vs. light, positive vs. negative. Until we differentiate, we can’t resolve and unify.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life this card represents the Formula 2: sephiroth or sphere 2, Chokmah (meaning Wisdom, sphere of the Zodiac and supreme Masculine energy, Yang) in the suit of Wands (Atziluth, the archetypal world; the element of Fire – our will) plus Mars in Aries (more on that in a moment), equaling Dominion.

Astrologically, this card represents Mars in Aries, and rules from 0 to 10 degrees Aries, or March 21st through March 30th, so if your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us.  Mars is the planet of physical energy and is Aries’ ruling planet. It embodies assertiveness and the courage to take action.

In real-time astrology, the Sun is transiting Aries’ fellow-Fire sign, Sagittarius (through December 21st). We take a broader, more optimistic view of the world. During this forecast period, we want to jump in with both feet, experience life to the fullest and explore our dreams and visions. We are also more curious and questioning. This energy complements this week’s card, although we still may need to curb our enthusiasm and be mindful of others’ feelings.

Mars is transiting Air-sign Libra (Aries’ polar opposite sign) through December 8th. Mars is in its detriment in Libra meaning it’s not as comfortable here and not functioning at its best. We have the strong desire to form alliances and relationships during this forecast period, but we need to avoid relationship drama when Mars opposes Uranus on November 30th just before the New Moon.

Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius begins December 3rd and all of the usual cautions apply – slow down, check details, try to avoid major decisions and purchases (especially technology products), and of course take extra care and build extra time into your travel plans. This energy can complicate that of this week’s card since when it comes to communication, Sagittarius can be very direct but tactless – even blunt. We might mistakenly get one of our feet stuck squarely into our mouths.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes energy unleashed wildly, egotism and violence, oppression and destruction, domination rather than dominion. When ill-dignified, this energy doesn’t work or play well with others.

Let’s focus on our creative impulses and the courage to take positive and assertive (rather than aggressive) action this week.

A little home alchemy:  Power colors for this week include scarlet, fiery red, azure blue and deep emerald green.

Ruby, bloodstone, diamond and garnet worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will remind us to avoid negativity and aggression.

Iron is this week metal – not really wearable, but a reminder that genuine strength can be exercised gently – we can choose to make tools, not weapons.

Scent your home, bath and body with wild rose, pine, tobacco, and woodbine to reinforce positive energies and generate some creative heat.

Foods prepared with allspice, cayenne, garlic, ginger and pepper will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: The Hermit

Weekly Tarotcast™:  11-21-17 through 11-28-17

 The Hermit

9-TheHermit

The weekly Tarotcast card is the Hermit. This card shows us that taking a (temporarily) solitary path will aid us in our search for truth. Solitude and being alone don’t have to mean feeling lonely, so we may find that we actively seek and very much enjoy our own company this week.  Probing our own inner consciousness and exploring our psyches will not only appeal to us, the insights we gain and the discoveries we make can bring us solutions to long-standing problems or issues, and give us the seeds to sow for a crop of new ideas and fresh directions.

We may find ourselves withdrawing from current events and taking a less-active role in our relationships and environments, not due to depression or disinterest, but because the energy this week calls us to look within. Reflection and introspection are our best tools to emerging refreshed, renewed and ready for action again.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life this card travels path 20, joining sephiroth or sphere 4, Chesed (meaning Mercy – sphere of Jupiter and the rule of law) to sephiroth or sphere 6, Tiphareth (meaning Beauty – sphere of the Sun; energy in complete and balanced manifestation).  Its Hebrew letter is Yod, meaning the hand, and it is with our hands that we sow seeds – which are hidden in the ground during the crucial stages of their ultimate development and growth. It is also with our hands that we cultivate our gardens and ultimately harvest their bounty.

Astrologically, this card is the zodiacal trump of Virgo, in which Mercury both rules and is exalted. The unique way in which Mercury, the Earth and Sun come together in this card symbolizes the special magic of growing things. The seed placed into the soil, hidden from view, undergoes a transformation and bursts forth into the sunlight to be further nurtured and grow to maturity. Here particularly, Mercury (Hermes to the Greeks) shows us his versatility beyond being a messenger and trickster. His roles include acting as a guide for the dead crossing over, an interpreter, a transformer and the patron of geographical (and metaphorical) boundaries and the travelers who navigate them.

In real-time astrology, the Sun enters Fire-sign Sagittarius on November 21st, the first day of this forecast period. As the Sun transits Sagittarius we shift our focus to a broader view of the world and big picture thinking. While this would appear to conflict with the energy of this week’s card, this period favors visions and questions; internal processes before external action and manifestation.

Mercury entered Sagittarius back on November 5th and entered its retrograde shadow phase on November 14th. Although the retrograde doesn’t begin until December 3rd, many of us will begin feeling the effects during the shadow phase as things slow down and draw inward – a complementary energy to that of this week’s card.

With Mercury in Sagittarius, our curiosity and questioning nature are enhanced. When Mercury trines Uranus on November 24th – 25th we are open to new ideas. Open-minded exploration leads us to seek out ideals and our optimism is high.  On November 27th, we want to define terms and situations, and we are highly results-oriented.  All of this is better suited to internal investigation rather than outward seeking and acting at this time.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes rigidity, hard attitudes, bitterness and hostility toward the outside world – even narcissism.

Let’s focus on the qualities of emotional maturity, wisdom and enlightenment this week.

A little home alchemy:  Power colors this week are yellowish green, slate grey, grey-green and plum.

This is a great week to listen to Revolution 9 from the Beatles’ White Album, Beethoven’s Ninth symphony or Gregorian chants, since this Major Arcana card is numbered 9 – the number which always comes back to itself.

Onyx and clear crystal as well as diamonds worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will make your alone-time or me-time as productive, meaningful and informative as possible.

This week’s metals are gold and platinum – pricey I know, but wear ’em if you’ve got ’em, because they beautifully symbolize the light that is born from darkness.

Scent your home, bath and body with lily, valerian, lavender, lilac, and frankincense to awaken the introspective and transformative powers of the Hermit.

Foods prepared with parsley, dill, rosemary, lavender, lemongrass and mace, or tea brewed from peppermint; as well as beverages containing juniper (gin!) and wormwood (absinthe!) – in moderation, please – will provide the same beneficial effects.

Weekly Tarotcast™: Three of Disks

Weekly Tarotcast™: 11-14-17 through 11-21-17

Three of Disks

ThreeofDisks

The weekly Tarotcast card is the Three of Disks.  This suit which is also called Pentacles or Coins brings us into the realm of money, assets and resources – things of material value. And this week’s card finds us shifting our focus to how we earn money through our work.  We get down to business and realize that our experience, abilities and contributions at our workplace are being recognized and rewarded, even if the rewards are deferred.  Better a little later than never, right?  We’re also confident that we can identify and implement the things that work best for us. This not only benefits us in our professional lives but personally and spiritually as well.

The Threes of the Minor Arcana represent the form, structure and the first results or manifestations of their respective suits and elements. They show the effects of energy in action – in this case, for Disks and Earth. They bring a perspective, a viewpoint and an understanding of events and situations. The threes show our first attempts at resolution and unification after the polarization and duality of the twos.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 3: sephiroth or sphere 3, Binah (meaning Understanding – sphere of Saturn, and Divine Feminine or Yin energy) in the suit of Disks (Assiah, the material world. the element of Earth – our physical bodies, real assets and resources) plus Mars in Capricorn (more on that in a moment) equaling Works.

Astrologically, this card symbolizes Mars in Capricorn and rules from 10 to 20 degrees Capricorn, or December 31st through January 9th, so if your birthday falls on or between those dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Mars is physical energy manifesting in the sign of Capricorn which embodies controlled force, directed passion and effort, tenacity and endurance.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Water-sign Scorpio (ruled by Pluto).  Pluto is transiting Capricorn (beginning back in 2008 and ending in 2023) so it’s harder to pin down the short-term effects of the transit. Capricorn is a cardinal Earth sign, quite at home within the physical realm, where he/she builds long-lasting order and structure. Capricorn is in for the long haul, and seeks to be an active member of society. Pluto’s purpose is to destroy that which no longer works or contributes to change on a very large –  even global – scale.

With the New Moon in Scorpio on November 18th we are willing to step out of our comfort zones and explore new ways of living and healing our lives. Transformation is desirable and possible. We can experience deeper understanding of what motivates other people. Feelings of intimacy and the healing power of forgiveness are enhanced during this forecast period and the energy combines well with that of this week’s card.

Mars continues its transit of Libra through the month of November. Mars is in its detriment in Libra so it’s not as comfortable in the sign as it is in others; i’s not functioning at its best or strongest. We may find that we want to form alliances and partnerships during this transit. Watch out for relationship drama when Mars forms a square to Pluto on November 18th and 19th.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes working hard instead of smart, the directionless expending of energy and effort without grounding in practical reality, and becoming overly controlling.

Let’s focus on creating and then following through on a viable plan of action, and we’ll definitely reap the rewards that follow.

A little home alchemy:  Power colors this week include scarlet red, azure blue and emerald green along with indigo, grey and black.

Ruby, garnet, bloodstone, onyx and jet worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will help us target our efforts toward productivity and positive growth.

Lead and iron are this week’s metals – not great for wearing, but good for symbolically reminding us of strength and endurance.

Scent your home, bath and body with wild rose, thistle, snowdrop, ginger, tobacco and pine to boost your energy and optimism.

Foods prepared with allspice, cayenne, garlic, ginger and pepper will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: Two of Cups

Weekly Tarotcast™:  11-07-17 through 11-14-17

 Two of Cups

TwoofCups

The weekly Tarotcast card is the Two of Cups. In many instances it indicates romantic love, marriage and partnerships even more than the Major Arcana card, the Lovers. It can indicate a friendship that develops into a romantic relationship; an engagement or marriage, and can also include the pleasure of enjoying the company of our good friends and family.

The Twos of the Minor Arcana are the balanced but polarized states of their respective suit and element. The twos are duality, and this is our way of seeing and being in the world in order to understand it; weighing and balancing things against their opposites – good vs. bad, dark vs. light, positive vs. negative. Until we differentiate, we can’t resolve and unify.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 2: sephiroth or sphere 2, Chokmah (meaning Wisdom, sphere of the Zodiac and the Divine Masculine or Yang energy) in the suit of Cups (Briah, the creative world; the element of Water – our feelings and emotions) plus Venus in Cancer (more on that in a moment) equaling Love.

Astrologically, this card is ruled by Venus in Cancer and rules from 0 to 10 degrees Cancer, or June 21st to July 1st so if your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. This card depicts the element of water in its best and highest form.  Harmony between male and female energies (Yin and Yang), joy and pleasure are all contained in this beautiful vibration.  Use this gentle, positive energy to open your heart and connect with the people you love.

In real-time astrology, the Sun is transiting Cancer’s fellow Water-sign Scorpio. On the first day of this forecast period, Venus begins her transit of Scorpio (through December 1st).  We will likely feel strong cravings for intimate connection during this time.  When Venus aligns with Jupiter in Scorpio on November 12th and 13th, we may feel our hearts opening and experience growing faith in our relationships and in ourselves. This energy is a beautiful complement to the energy of this week’s card.

On November 11th, Saturn and Uranus form a trine. This is a perfect time to experience peace and order in our daily lives, while still adding an element of excitement.  Our enjoyment of all aspects of our lives increases, but especially our appreciation of our work and careers.  New beginnings as well as realizing the form and development of original ideas are favored now. This is an ideal time to maintain stability while improving our circumstances; also we can successfully integrate both innovation and tradition – unique opportunities!  Again, all of this wonderfully complements the energy of this week’s card.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes disillusionment, separation, and loving energy disrupted or resisted through fear or rejection.

Let’s focus on enjoying the positive aspects by spending time with people we genuinely like, and let attractions blossom with people we hope to get to know and like even better.  It’s a great week to flirt, begin dating, or even fall in love – or to develop an existing relationship and see it move forward in a positive direction.

A little home alchemy:  Power colors this week include pearl gray, emerald green, sky blue and pale pink for Venus, amber, maroon and russet for Cancer.

Emerald, opal, jade, sapphire and lapis worn as jewelry, or carried as power stones will awaken feelings of love and attraction.

Silver (for Cancer) and copper (for Venus) are this week’s metals. I’d opt for the silver of course, but choose whichever makes you happiest, alternate or even combine them.

Scent your home, bath and body with poppy, white rose, violet, wild rose, bergamot, geranium, hibiscus, and plumeria to create a sensuous, relaxed mood. These will work wonders whether you’re deepening an existing relationship or if you’re hoping to attract love into your life so this week, use them to help you draw in what (and who) will make you truly happy.

This week’s array of flowers, fruits and vegetables offers us ingredients for tasty meals to share with those we love. Cancer rules the stomach and Venus the heart – so this week the way to our loved one’s heart definitely is through their stomach!  Along with this week’s scents, foods prepared with apples, watercress, strawberries, poppy seeds and vanilla as well as teas brewed from hibiscus and bergamot will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: The Lovers

Weekly Tarotcast™: 10-31-17 through 11-07-17

 The Lovers

6-TheLovers

Happy Halloween – Blessed Samhain!

The weekly Tarotcast card is The Lovers. This is one of those cards with an apparently obvious meaning and on one level, this is the card of romantic partnerships, relationships and marriage. However, this card speaks more to the importance of choice – and the making of correct choices – in many areas of our lives beyond our love relationships. To make our best choices, we need to know who we are and what we want and need in order to find personal fulfillment.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life this card travels Path 17, joining sephiroth or sphere 3, Binah (meaning Understanding) to sephiroth or sphere 6, Tiphareth (meaning Beauty). Its Hebrew letter is Zain (a sword) – surprising? Seems like that would be more in keeping with a fighter than a lover. But as an intellectual “weapon” the sword’s sharp blade cuts through illusion and irrelevancy, and it comes to a point – all things we need to do in order to choose well.

Astrologically, this card is the zodiacal trump of Gemini, ruled by the planet Mercury. The usual idea of twins – identical in appearance and often complementary in nature, is used here to depict the union of opposites, and the merging into totality – two becoming one, or duality resolving into unity.

In real-time astrology, the Sun and Mercury are both transiting Water-sign Scorpio. With the Sun in Scorpio, our focus turns to the dynamics of power in our relationships. Our attention and intention center on intimacy and sharing. This forecast period is perfect for probing our deepest inner motivations and we seek to understand what motivates the behavior of others.

With Mercury in Scorpio and we investigate mysterious and won’t be satisfied with the superficial – we won’t rest until we delve deep beneath the surface of events and circumstances around us.

When Mercury enters Fire-sign Sagittarius on November 5th our focus shifts from the need to dig deeply into situations to the desire to explore a wide range of interests and our vision broadens. We may be more optimistic and more reliant on our beliefs and faith. Justice is important to us during this transit near the end of the current forecast period. However, we may forgo precise, detailed and decisive thinking for the big picture during this time, so we may need to side-step some of the pitfalls that arise.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes indecisiveness, inconsistency, unenlightened self-sacrifice, imbalance, and a lack of self-insight or self-knowledge.

Let’s focus on decision-making from our hearts this week, as well as the courage and awareness to act in our own best interests without selfishness or ego.

A little home alchemy: Power colors for this week include orange, yellow, pale mauve and grey.

Carnelian, red coral, jade, agate and topaz worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will help keep our minds and hearts clear as we make our choices.

Mercury is this week’s metal, impossible to wear, but instructive as we employ adaptability when deciding our best course of action.

Scent your home, bath and body with sandalwood, musk, lilac and iris to integrate mind, heart, body and spirit this week.

Foods prepared with parsley, dill, lavender, lemongrass, mace, peppermint and rosemary, as well as tea brewed from peppermint, will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: Four of Wands

Weekly Tarotcast™: 10-24-17 through 10-31-17

 Four of Wands

fourofwands

The weekly Tarotcast card is the Four of Wands. We’ll be focused on committed relationships of all kinds, from business partnerships to friendships and marriage. Our commitment to others, their commitment to us and our shared endeavors, are all positively influenced by this card’s energy.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life this card represents the formula 4: sephiroth or sphere 4, of Chesed (meaning Mercy – the sphere of Jupiter and materialization) in the suit of Wands (Atziluth, the archetypal world, the element of Fire – our will) plus Venus in Aries (more on that in a moment) equaling Completion.

The Fours of the Minor Arcana are where the form and structure of their respective elements and suits are stabilized and nurtured for further development and manifestation. They bring unification, domestication, reflection, or gestation in events and situations.

Astrologically, this card represents Venus in Aries and rules from 20 to 30 degrees Aries, or April 11th through April 20th so if your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. This is nicely tuned energy, reminding us that the Aries drive to achievement and success is best accomplished with the tact, gentleness and diplomacy of Venus.

In real-time astrology, the Sun entered Water-sign Scorpio on October 23rd. Just prior to this forecast period, Venus entered Air-sign Libra (one of the signs ruled by this planet) on October 14th (through November 7th). With this transit we can become highly idealistic about love and romance. Rough, rude or aggressive behavior is a major turn-off. We seek balance and harmony in our relationships. Venus is perfectly at home and comfortable here, since it is in one of the signs it rules. Venus’ energy calms and soothes Aries.

Mars (Aries’ ruling planet) is transiting Libra (through December 9th). Mars is in its detriment in Libra (Libra opposes Mars-ruled Aries) so it’s not nearly as comfortable here as it might be otherwise, and doesn’t work to its fullest or best advantage here. Mars energy stirs up peace-loving Libra. This can cause some hard feelings or unresolved issues during this forecast period.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes overestimating ourselves or our abilities, senseless and frantic activity, egotistical self-indulgence and vanity.

Let’s focus on the inner fulfillment, harmonious partnership and aspiration to spiritual ideals that this card can bring.

A little home alchemy: Power colors this week include Venus’ emerald green, spring green, sky blue and bright rose pink along with Aries’ scarlet red.

Emerald, opal, jade, sapphire, lapis lazuli (for Venus) as well as ruby, bloodstone, diamond, garnet (for Aries) will both energize us and keep us attentive to the feelings and needs of others.

Copper and iron are this week’s metals. Choose copper for its healing and balancing properties. Iron isn’t great for wearing, but in combination with copper (if the copper is copper sulfate), the two create sparks – like fireworks!

Scent your home, bath and body with wild rose, hibiscus, bergamot, plumeria, violet and magnolia as well apple, vanilla and strawberry to balance drive and strength with fairness this week.

Foods prepared with apple, vanilla and strawberry as well as everyone’s favorite thistle – the artichoke – will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: The Emperor

Weekly Tarotcast™: 10-17-17 through 10-24-17

The Emperor

4-TheEmperor

The weekly Tarotcast card is the Emperor.  This card represents order in our lives as well as traditional masculine authority figures. Our fathers, some business leaders, more generally the police, court systems and the government all come under the strongly masculine (Yang) energy of this card. This is a great week for getting organized!  Even the small ways we use logic and left-brain thinking, and the small things we do to create a structured framework pay off big in the coming week.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life this card travels Path 28, joining sephiroth or sphere 7, Netzach (meaning Victory, imbalance in the form of the Masculinized female) to sephiroth or sphere 9, Yesod (meaning Foundation, the sphere of Luna, the crystallization of energy).  Its Hebrew letter is Tzaddi, meaning “fish hook”.   This is the first letter in the word tzaddig, or “righteous man,” so tzaddi stands for both righteousness and humility. And the only other thing I will say about this letter in relation to this card is that Mr. Crowley swapped it for the Hebrew letter attribution of the 17th Major Arcana card, The Star. He had his reasons; to agree or disagree with them I will leave entirely up to you.

Astrologically, this card is the zodiacal trump of Aries, in which Mars rules and the Sun is exalted. This energy gives us plenty of opportunities to show our leadership skills.

In real-time astrology, the Sun is in Air-sign Libra (through October 22nd), Aries’ polar opposite sign on the wheel of the Zodiac.  The New Moon in Libra on October 19th makes the perfect time for focusing on and fine-tuning our relationships especially if we’ve been ignoring them or taking them for granted. This is excellent energy for working on our negotiation and partnership skills. Using the best aspects of this week’s card, resolution of conflicts is highly possible.

Mars enters Libra on October 22nd. Mars is in its detriment in Libra (Libra opposes Mars-ruled Aries) so it’s not nearly as comfortable here as it might be otherwise, and isn’t working to its best advantage or playing to its strengths. This can cause some hard feelings and actions during this forecast period.

The Sun enters Water-sign Scorpio on October 23rd. Mars was the original ruler of Scorpio. This transit turns our attention to the acquisition and use of power as well as intimacy and sharing in relationships. We’ll probe deeply into our own inner space to understand our own motivations and the deeper meaning behind others’ behavior.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes domineering, authoritarian actions, rigid thinking and over-planning.  Other things to avoid are irrational, impulsive actions, hyper-sexuality and aggressive behaviors.

Let’s focus on successfully navigating this strong energy by using the best of it without going overboard. We can exercise personal responsibility and be good grown-ups.

A little home alchemy:  Power colors this week include scarlet, warm gold tones and any bright, vivid shade of red.

Ruby, bloodstone, diamond, garnet, black onyx and clear quartz crystal worn as jewelry, or carried as power stones will balance the light-and-dark energies of authority and leadership as well as the fires of ambition and determination.

Iron is this week’s metal. Although not wearable, it is a symbol of endurance and strength but also stubbornness, so take care.

Scent your home, bath and body with eucalyptus, thistle, wild rose, woodbine, pine and tobacco (the scent, no need to smoke anything) for both calming the nerves yet stimulating the mind and body in a positive, focused way.

Foods prepared with allspice, cayenne, garlic, ginger and pepper will give a fiery kick to your recipes this week (just remember fire is a great servant but a dangerous master); also artichokes and sunflower (seeds or oil) will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: Four of Swords

Weekly Tarotcast™:  10-10-17 through 10-17-17

 Four of Swords

FourofSwords

The weekly Tarotcast card is the Four of Swords. Authority exercised with grace; and equilibrium with justice is the energy we’ll be experiencing this week. Just remember that Swords are weapons of war, so if we establish a truce or peace this week, it will occur because of a threat of unpleasantness; even conflict or violence. And it will be temporary.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 4: sephiroth or sphere 4, Chesed (meaning Mercy; sphere of Jupiter, the rule of Law) in the suit of Swords (Yetzirah, the world of Form; element of Air, representing the intellect and mental processes) plus Jupiter in Libra (more on that in a moment) equaling Truce.

The Fours of the Minor Arcana are where the form and structure of their respective elements and suits are stabilized and nurtured for further development and manifestation. They bring unification, domestication, reflection, or gestation to events and situations.

Astrologically this card symbolizes Jupiter in Libra, and rules from 20 to 30 degrees Libra, or October 13th to October 22nd, a near-perfect astrological match this week; so if your birthday falls on or between these dates you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Jupiter in Libra energy is great for socializing and increasing one’s popularity or public reputation. There is a strong sense of justice and fair play as well as a desire to promote the general welfare and public good.

In real-time astrology, the Sun is in Air-sign Libra (through October 22nd).  Also, Mercury is currently transiting Libra (through October 17th, the last day of this forecast period). This transit emphasizes diplomacy. We make a special effort to be fair and we are open to considering others’ viewpoints. While this can harmonize well with the energy of this week’s card, we may find that our decision-making processes lack focus and clarity.

On October 10th, Jupiter enters Water-sign Scorpio (through November 8th, 2018). Jupiter transits come in twelve-year cycles. This transit urges us to pursue our heart’s desires, to fully experience all of our emotions and to foster intimacy with others; as well as deepening our self-awareness.

When Venus enters Libra (this sign’s ruling planet) on October 14th we may become idealistic about romantic love. Aggressive, coarse or rude behavior is a huge turn-off. The caution here is that in combination with the energy of this week’s card, we can lapse into co-dependency or denial – ignoring some of the problematic aspects of our relationships.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes isolation, retreat, illness (physical, mental or emotional), or making too many concessions and over-compromising, trying for peace at any price.

Let’s focus being tolerant, using a temporary break in the action to plan our next move, and seeking the outcome that offers the opportunity of achieving the best and highest good for all concerned.

A little home alchemy:  Power colors this week include violet, purple and blue for Jupiter along with deep green and blue for Libra.

Sapphire, amethyst, diamond, lapis and opal worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will keep balanced fairness and justice at the forefront of our dealings this week.

Copper and tin are this week’s metals, which when combined create bronze.  Bronze is both harder and less brittle than either of these metals alone – and is both useful and beautiful. In olden times, bronze was used to make weapons.  You can make a tool or a statue – or a sword. Choose well.

Scent your home, bath and body with violet, white rose, heliotrope, cedar and honeysuckle to help keep you on an even keel this week  with stability, balance and fairness.

Foods prepared with clove, sage, poppy seeds, anise, cinnamon, mint, nutmeg or sage will provide the same beneficial effects.
