Your Weekly Tarotcast™: Six of Swords

Weekly Tarotcast™:  12-27-16 through 1-03-17

 Six of Swords

sixofswords

The weekly Tarotcast card is the Six of Swords.  This week finds us moving along on our journey, literally or figuratively, through a gateway to new solutions for our problems.  Physically, spiritually or emotionally, we are distancing ourselves from the past.  Since Swords represent the intellect and mental processes, we are clear-headed and our ability to focus and concentrate is excellent.  Intense curiosity and analytical thinking are also signified by this card.

The sixes of the Minor Arcana restore harmony, balance and the energy of success to their respective suits and elements.  After the disruption caused by the fives, the sixes bring affirmation, confirmation, validation and solidification. In the Six of Swords, the Air element acts as the force of creative intelligence.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 6: sephiroth or sphere 6, Tiphareth (meaning Beauty, sphere of the Sun, where energy manifests in a completely balanced way), in the suit of Swords (Yetzirah, the formative world; the element of Air and our mental and intellectual processes) plus Mercury in Aquarius (more on that in a moment) equaling Science.

Astrologically, this card corresponds to Mercury in Aquarius and rules from 10 to 20 degrees Aquarius, or January 30th to February 8th, so if your birthday falls on or between those dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Intellectual balance is perfectly at home here. Through the application of right thinking and right action, we’ve earned – or are earning – our success.

In real-time astrology, the Sun is transiting Earth-sign Capricorn, Aquarius’ next door neighbor on the wheel of the zodiac. Mercury turned retrograde on December 19th (through January 8th), beginning in Capricorn and backing up into Sagittarius on January 4th, where it will remain through the rest of the retrograde cycle.  During this transit we have little patience for small talk or frivolous pursuits.

Venus is currently transiting Air-sign Aquarius. In combination with this week’s card, getting along with others should come easily now. During this forecast period, we find ourselves drawn to the unusual and unconventional. We want to interact with intelligent others and we welcome new experiences.

On December 29th we will have a New Moon in Capricorn, awakening our ambitions, our understanding of time and limitations, and our sense of order.  We are able to set practical goals, use our maturity and common sense for problem resolution, and act with self-discipline and a strong sense of responsibility.

Also, Uranus (Aquarius’ ruling planet) turns direct on this same day making for a very inventive, creative and even unpredictable New Moon period. As Uranus gains forward momentum we may find ourselves taking some chances, feeling rebellious, following our instincts and looking to create change.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes skepticism, mistrust, prejudicial or overly-critical and judgmental thinking.

Let’s focus on our search for truth with objectivity, holistic thinking and intense analysis used constructively!

A little home alchemy:  Power colors this week include yellow, purple, grey, violet, indigo and salmon pink.

Jade, jasper, topaz, aquamarine as well as amber and malachite worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will definitely keep our heads clear and our thoughts balanced this week.

Uranium, mercury and zinc are this week’s metals – and other than zinc, none should be worn or even handled for obvious reasons.  A little zinc oxide on your nose will prevent sunburn there, though.

Scent your home, bath and body with cornflower, lilac, vervain, snowdrop and foxglove to enhance your intellectual and analytical powers this week.

Foods prepared with parsley, dill, rosemary, lemongrass, peppermint and mace will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: The Hierophant

Weekly Tarotcast™: 8-23-16 through 8-30-16

The Hierophant

5-TheHierophant

The weekly Tarotcast card is The Hierophant. This card was known as the Pope in the earliest tarot decks. He is now a high priest, vital and powerfully partnered with his Scarlet Woman. He can represent a teacher, priest/religious leader, or representative of the law (including police officers and attorneys). The powers that be will be powerful indeed this week – whether we’re contending with corporate, academic, religious or legal entities – or the authority figures within our personal sphere.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life this card travels path 16, joining sephiroth or sphere 2, Chokmah (meaning Wisdom, sphere of the Divine Masculine, Yang) with sephiroth or sphere 4, Chesed (meaning Mercy, sphere of Jupiter and the rule of law). Its Hebrew letter is Vau, meaning “nail.” We can use nails to build and secure a structure – but we can also get “nailed” if we’re not careful and we’re doing things we ought not do.

Astrologically, this card is the zodiacal trump of Taurus, with Venus ruling and the Moon exalted.

In real-time astrology, just prior to this forecast period, the Sun entered Taurus’ fellow Earth-sign, Virgo (also Libra’s next-door neighbor sign) on August 22nd and the Moon entered Taurus on the same date. Venus co-rules both Taurus and Air-sign Libra, and enters Libra on August 29th. Venus is happily at home there, enhancing our desire and love for beauty, harmony and balance.

Venus aligns with Jupiter on August 27th increasing our desire for love, pleasure, and the admiration of others. We will be generous with our emotional, spiritual and even material resources now. We will likely seek the higher purpose and deeper meaning of our personal values and our important relationships.
Then it’s time to get ready for the Mercury Retrograde beginning just after this forecast period on August 30th .

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes intolerance, arrogance and a bad case of the know-it-alls. Structure and tradition taken to extremes can become a cage or a prison, stifling freedom and thwarting change.

Let’s focus on our connection to our higher selves and trust that even mundane events and situations are occurring to guide us toward our true purpose. We can discover and explore our connection to the divine (without a human mediator) by using this card’s most potent energy.

A little home alchemy: Power colors for this week include red, orange, deep indigo, rich brown and warm olive. Our daily prayers and meditations take on a more formal element of ritual this week, so wearing clothing in these colors while we pray or meditate will enhance our experience.

Amethyst, citrine, or fire opals worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will make you feel you are connected to and a part of something greater than yourself. This would be a great week to walk a labyrinth!

Copper is this week metal – flexible yet strong, and with possible healing powers for joint and muscle pain and/or inflammation.

Scent your home, bath and body with frankincense, rose, violet, hibiscus, coconut, jasmine, sandalwood, strawberry, vanilla or vervain to bring stability and a sense of larger purpose to your life this week.

Foods prepared with rose or violet (many flowers are edible), coconut, lotus, apple, strawberry or vanilla or tea brewed from jasmine, hibiscus or rose hips will provide the same beneficial effects.
