Your Weekly Tarotcast™: Seven of Swords

Weekly Tarotcast™: 1-22-19 through 1-29-19

Seven of Swords

This week’s Tarotcast card is the Seven of Swords. It represents intellectual and mental fluctuation. It shows healthy skepticism when circumstances are uncertain or “the whole story” isn’t readily available. There is a self-protective energy to this card. This helps us actively guard against being taken advantage of, or taken in by, other people. With the positive energy of this card, we can root out self-deception and reveal the deceits of others, if those exist. The downside is using tolerance or compromise when those approaches are disastrous.

The Elements

When the element of Air – mental energy – is influenced by instinctive and instinctual behavior, we may be lulled into a false sense of security. The urge to appease or practice passive diplomacy can allow us to be preyed upon by more ruthless or violent people.

The Number 7

The Sevens of the Minor Arcana illuminate the motives for manifesting their respective suits and elements. Balance gives way to questioning and exploration as well as the disruption which naturally arises from the search for the underlying causes of creative action. The sevens dissolve and deconstruct.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 7: sephiroth or sphere 7, Netzach (meaning Victory, sphere of Venus; the masculinized Female) in the suit of Swords (Yetzirah, the formative world; the element of Air – our intellect and mental processes) plus the Moon in Aquarius (more on that in a moment) equaling Futility.

Astrology

This card symbolizes the Moon in Aquarius and rules from 20 to 30 degrees Aquarius, or February 9th through February 18th. If your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. The moon doesn’t necessarily highlight Aquarius’ better qualities, so inner doubts and indecision along with the impulse to deceive one’s self or others are the pitfalls here.

In real-time astrology, the Sun began its transit of Air-sign Aquarius on January 20th (through February 18). On January 24th, Mercury enters Aquarius. Since Mercury is the Messenger of the Gods, we would do well to listen carefully to the messages that will be coming in swiftly and perhaps unexpectedly.

The Sun and Mercury meet in Aquarius on January 29th. This Sun-Mercury conjunction shares many of the qualities of a Full Moon. Projects or plans that you began on or around November 27th last year will come to fruition or conclusion.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes craftiness, slyness, cunning and even paranoia. We may need to keep our cards close to our vests, but outright mistrust and unnecessary secrecy will only complicate things this week.

Let’s focus on the positive aspects of this energy to accept possible disappointment and to turn knowledge and information to shrewd advantage.

Alchemy

Power colors: bright yellow, blue, silver, violet and white.

Power stones: zircon, amber, malachite, pearl, rock crystal and moonstone worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will help harmonize and bring clarity to situations where there’s more going on than meets the eye.

Power metals: Uranium (impossible to get or wear) and silver (perfect to wear) are this week’s metals. Silver conducts the most heat and electricity of all the metals, as well as being the most highly reflective. Consider those qualities for amping up the positives of this week’s energy.

Power fragrances: Scent your home, bath and body with pine, poppy, lily, white rose, gardenia, jasmine, myrrh and sandalwood to enhance the Aquarian’s natural ability to tap into information and knowledge at a moment’s need.

Power foods: Foods prepared with poppy seeds, coconut or wintergreen (mint), or tea brewed with jasmine or mint will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: 6 of Cups

Weekly Tarotcast™: 1-15-19 through 1-22-19

6 of Cups

The 6 of Cups Tarot card is this week’s Tarotcast. This card represents pleasure in all its many forms. This encompasses all feelings of well-being, harmony, ease and satisfaction. Since the energy of this card is that of natural desires operating without effort or strain, definitely included are physical and sexual pleasure. Here there is joy, fulfillment and emotional renewal. These are sometimes linked to our fondest wishes, memories and nostalgia for the past.

The Elements
When the element of Water is penetrated and fertilized by the Sun, great power is released. The deep satisfaction of nearly-inexhaustible creativity comes through the power of the feminine principle energized by union with the male – the Yin and Yang, as symbolized beautifully in this card.

The Number 6
The sixes of the Minor Arcana restore harmony and balance to their respective suits and elements. After the disruption of the fives – cleansing, regenerating, reassessing and creating conflict in a previously stable system – the sixes bring affirmation, confirmation, validation and solidification.

Kabbalah
On the Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 6: sephiroth or sphere 6, Tiphareth (meaning Beauty, sphere of the Sun; energy in complete, balanced manifestation) in the suit of Cups (Briah, the creative world; the element of Water, our emotions) plus the Sun in Scorpio (more on that in a moment) equaling Pleasure.

Astrology
This card symbolizes the Sun in Scorpio and rules from 10 to 20 degrees Scorpio, or November 2nd through November 12th. If your birthday falls on or between those dates you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. The Sun brings out the warm, sensuous and even fun-loving side of the Scorpion.

In real-time astrology, the Sun begins its transit of Air-sign Aquarius on January 20th (through February 18). Around mid-month as Jupiter squares Neptune, it also forms a minor challenging aspect to Uranus (planetary ruler of Aquarius), stirring up feelings of discontentment and restlessness. Our dreams may no longer feel fulfilling or inspiring. We may chase after impractical fantasies or go off on strange detours that only lead to dead ends.

On January 21st we have the Full Moon total Lunar Eclipse in Fire-sign Leo. This is the last eclipse in a series falling along the Leo/Aquarius axis. We may suddenly feel that we are in great need or want – that there is a serious lack of resources in our lives. Paired with the Sun in Scorpio we may seek to fill the void by any sensual or sexual means available. Hidden matters may come to light and energy brewing beneath the surface can unexpectedly erupt.

Full Moons are great for focusing on existing problem and challenges so we can restore balance. On the Leo-Aquarius axis we may need to harmonize our need for personal enjoyment with serving the group or community. Again, paired with the energy of this week’s card and the influence of Scorpio, we may reach a clear, deep understanding of our own emotional needs. More, we can make decisions and take actions to fulfill them.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes escape from reality and emotional imprisonment in or by the past.

Let’s focus on rich, positive emotional experiences and utilizing our creative power this week.

Alchemy
Power colors: yellow, orange, golden yellow, amber and red along with deep blue-green and dark brown.

Power stones: Topaz, ruby, jet, amber carnelian, diamond and tiger’s eye worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will heighten our physical senses and creativity.

Power metals: gold, iron and plutonium. Only gold of course, is really wearable. In this case yellow gold is your best choice. But the strength of iron and the reactivity of plutonium can serve as good reminders of what happens when we release our creative spirit.

Power fragrances: Scent your home, bath and body with heather, sweet basil, marigold, orange, rosemary, acacia, cedar, cinnamon, clove, and frankincense to stimulate your creativity and to connect fully with all of your physical senses this week. Feeling seductive? You’ll be dynamite, so be careful!

Power foods: Food prepared with sweet basil, sunflower seeds, galangal, oranges, rosemary, cinnamon and clove as well as beverages brewed from hops (beer!) or juniper (gin!), in moderation of course, will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: 4 of Disks

Weekly Tarotcast™: 1-08-19 through 1-15-19

4 of Disks

The 4 of Disks Tarot card is this week’s Tarotcast. This card indicates the ways we guard, hang on to or cling to our possessions – material and otherwise. We’re willing to work hard and will sacrifice our long-term goals for immediate gain, which in some circumstances is a positive. However, the darker side of this energy is that we tend to be possessive and there’s a definite lack of satisfaction in what we’re guarding and holding so closely. There’s a sense of poverty or scarcity consciousness to this card, and often if we cling too tightly to what we consider our “wealth” with no enjoyment of it or even practical use for it, it ceases to be of any value.

There are benefits to being frugal and smart with a dollar – that’s the middle-ground of this card. Organization and planning can work to our benefit and help us be prepared when life’s storms come along. But we do need to remind ourselves that if we’re hanging on to every red cent until old Abe Lincoln screams, we’re coming from a place of fear that will rarely serve us or bring more wealth – or abundance consciousness – our way.

The Fours of the Minor Arcana are where the form and structure of their respective elements and suits are stabilized and nurtured for further development and manifestation. They bring unification, domestication, reflection, or gestation in events and situations.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life this card represents the formula 4: sephiroth or sphere 4, Chesed (meaning Mercy – the sphere of Jupiter and materialization), in the suit of Disks (Assiah, the material world – assets and resources; the element of Earth – our physical bodies and senses) plus the Sun in Capricorn (more on that in a moment) equaling Power.

Astrologically, this card symbolizes the Sun in Capricorn and rules from 20 to 30 degrees Capricorn, or January 10th through January 19th. If your birthday falls on or between those dates you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. The Sun is a reminder of the positive strengths of this card. Careful guarding and tending of what we value and being attentive to our resources without becoming miserly will serve our long-term goals for building security.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Earth-sign Capricorn (through January 20th). This makes for an ideal energetic match for this week’s stars and planets with the Tarot. The New Moon in Capricorn on January 5th – 6th brought a partial solar eclipse and focused on our careers, public perception and our reputations. It enhanced professional achievements and advancement. Its effects help us to set practical goals, develop our common sense and self-discipline. Mercury entered Capricorn on January 4th (through January 24th) making our communications direct, practical and results-oriented.

On January 13th, Jupiter forms a square to Neptune causing internal conflict. We may experience a disconnection between our expectations, aspirations and dreams and our current reality. We’ll need to be especially careful to avoid disorganization, needless extravagance and neglect of our duties.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes compulsive behavior, stubbornness and stagnation – we can too easily become “penny-wise and pound-foolish.”

Let’s focus on using earthly power and material assets as instruments for good and positive endeavors.

A little home alchemy: Power colors this week include indigo, black and dark gray combined with orange, red-orange, amber and gold.

Onyx, jet, garnet and opal along with ruby, amber and carnelian worn as jewelry, or carried as power stones will give you a good judgment in determining the cost of things in relation to their worth.

Lead is this week’s metal so choose to wear the yellow gold of the Sun instead. There’s literal alchemy at work here – the ancient alchemists strove to turn base metal (lead) into gold.

Scent your home, bath and body with snowdrop, heliotrope, juniper, marigold, orange, rosemary, acacia, cedar, cinnamon, clove, and frankincense to open up a healthy perspective on what it truly means to have wealth and abundance in your life.

Foods prepared with nightshade-family foods (tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, eggplant) as well as galangal, orange, rosemary, cinnamon, clove and sunflower seeds or juniper berries will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: 9 of Cups

Weekly Tarotcast™: 1-01-19 through 1-08-19

9 of Cups

Happy New Year!

The 9 of Cups Tarot card is this week’s Tarotcast. This is one of the happiest, most positive and optimistic cards in the deck, especially in all matters emotional, including romantic love!

Is everybody happy? You bet! This week is a great time to get centered, smile and celebrate while enjoying the pleasures and comforts of the very best things life has to offer. This card is the big “YES” – so be prepared to say yes to just about anything this week, and be prepared for the big “YES” in terms of good things coming your way.

The Nines of the Minor Arcana bring things toward a conclusion. They represent integration, fulfillment and attainment for their respective suits and elements, in this case Cups and Water energy. Social and sensual pleasures are still enjoyed in moderation, desires are satisfied and contentment reigns.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 9: sephiroth or sphere 9, Yesod (meaning Foundation – sphere of Luna, where energy crystallizes) in the suit of Cups (Briah, the Creative world; the element of Water – our heart and emotions) plus Jupiter in Pisces (more on that in a moment) equaling Happiness.

Astrologically, this card represents Jupiter in Pisces, and rules from 10 to 20 degrees Pisces, or March 1st through March 10th. If your birthday falls on or between those dates you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Jupiter’s knack for enjoying the good life and “bigger, better, more” energy is right at home in the mutable water sign of the Fish, where things are comfortable and cozy.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Earth-sign Capricorn (through January 21st). Venus is transiting Pisces’ fellow Water-sign Scorpio (through January 7th) and our desire for deep, intimate connection is powerful.

On January 1st, Jupiter (in its home sign of Sagittarius) is sesquiquadrate the True, or North Node. The North Node is traveling through Water-sign Cancer in 2019, a year when its opposite sign (Capricorn) is dominant. This completes a powerful water element triad that enhances the deeply emotional energy of this forecast period. There’s a nice symmetry here too, which helps us recognize the need to work on both our inner AND outer worlds. We’re able to successfully compartmentalize in a positive way, to divide and conquer peacefully and harmoniously.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes conceit and vanity. Avoid being gullible. Check your “Too Good to Be True” Meter, because if something really IS too good to be true you’ll want to take a pass.

Let’s focus on sharing our good fortune and positive news with others and allowing them to share theirs with us! Stay receptive and be ready to say “YES” – accept affirmatives into your life this week.

A little home alchemy: Power colors this week include sea-green, blue, purple, violet and white.

Of course, there couldn’t be a better time to listen to music that makes you want to dance, sing, or – if you’re feeling too shy for those, just lifts your spirits high! How about Pharrell Williams’ “Happy?” or “Don’t Worry, Be Happy?” The word “happy” doesn’t even have to be in the title. One of my all-time favorites (and a song I lovingly describe as the happiest flippin’ song in the world) is “Jackie Wilson Said” by Van Morrison. Whatever works for you.

Amethyst, aquamarine, sapphire, emerald or topaz worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will help us to clarify and manifest what makes us happy and serves our highest good.

Tin is this week’s metal, not great for wearing – but a strong alloy (and ally) for strength and flexibility.

Scent your home, bath and body with musk, lavender, jasmine, heliotrope, carnation, opium poppy, cedar, honeysuckle and hyssop to feel love, happiness and optimism; to awaken Pisces gentle, loving nature and to radiate Jupiter’s noble power.

Foods prepared with clove, sage, anise, cinnamon, nutmeg and mint especially in liquids (soups, teas) and in all types of desserts and sweets, will provide the same beneficial effects.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: The Empress

Weekly Tarotcast™: 12-25-18 through 1-01-19

The Empress

This week’s Tarotcast is The Empress Tarot card. We may experience strong urges to nurture and share this week. We find ourselves and others more open, receptive and compassionate. Enjoy your home, have a party, serve comfort foods and indulge in rich desserts. All activities centered on help and support – especially of children and animals, are favored with success.

On the kabalistic Tree of Life this card travels Path 14, joining sephiroth or sphere 2, Chokmah (meaning Wisdom) to sephiroth or sphere 3, Binah (meaning Understanding). Its Hebrew letter is Daleth (which means “door”) and a woman’s body is the door through which we all pass when we enter this life.

Astrologically, this card is the Planetary trump of Venus. She is woman in all her many forms. Fertility is highlighted – in every sense of that word. New ideas, planting and gardening, seed money for investment or projects, and even news of pregnancy all present positive possibilities in the coming week.

In real-time astrology, the Sun is transiting Earth-sign Capricorn (through January 21st). Venus is transiting Water-sign Scorpio (through January 7th) and our desire for deep, intimate connection is powerful.

On December 27th, Jupiter in its home Fire-sign Sagittarius semi-sextiles Saturn in its home sign Capricorn. The light-hearted and free-spirited energy of Jupiter in its home sign is tempered by the strong sense of duty, responsibility and obligation of Saturn in its home sign. We may not know how to best combine and integrate all the pieces of the puzzle. Avoid second-guessing your plans, but do a reality check to make sure they are feasible.

As we close out this year and this forecast period, on December 31st Mars enters its home Fire-sign Aries. This is the archetypal masculine; opposite and complementary energy to feminine Venus. This week the balance of Yin and Yang is essential. Mars in Aries energy is direct, assertive, self-centered and spontaneous. Avoid impulsive or selfish actions.

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes over-indulgence in sensual pleasures (alcohol, drugs, sex, even food), wallowing in self-indulgence to the point of egotism or narcissism, vanity, laziness and envy of others.

Let’s focus on the best energy of this card – embracing the power of the feminine principle (no matter whether we’re female or male). We can find comfort and strength inside our own skins, celebrate our bodies, and our Mother Earth. Since this is the Christmas season, contemplate the Mother and Child. Whether you’re Christian or not the beauty, peace and harmony of perfect love can be found there.

A little home alchemy: Power colors for this week include emerald green, sky blue, bright rose pink, and pale spring green.

Emeralds, opals, jade, sapphire and lapis worn as jewelry or carried as power stones will help us to nurture others and take compassionate action this week, a good balance for pampering ourselves.

Copper is this week metal. Since copper is supposed to have healing properties, this is a great week to see how it works for you.

Scent your home, bath and body with violet, wild rose, bergamot, hibiscus, magnolia, plumeria, rose, strawberry and vanilla to enhance the balance of self-care and other-care. For a treat, take a candle-lit bath using pink candles and natural mineral salts – you’ll be channeling the positive energy of the Empress in just a few relaxing minutes!

Foods prepared with apples, strawberries and vanilla or teas brewed from rose hips or hibiscus will provide the same beneficial effects.

The Tarotcast comes to you FREE each week, with a new post every Tuesday!
