The Universe Tarot: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

12-10-19 through 12-17-19

The Universe tarot

The Universe Tarot card is this week’s Tarotcast, known in many decks as The World Tarot card. The Universe tarot card is the last card of the Major Arcana. Expect success this week; completion, fulfillment & synthesis in key areas of your life.

In work matters this can mean the completion of a long-term project. We may see the effects of global influence in our business dealings. In our personal and romantic lives, this card indicates expansion.

Expect positive changes especially if things have been somewhat dull or stagnant. Attend to duties and responsibilities beyond the present situation. We will gain insight into the workings of karma in our lives. Our understanding of time – past, present and future – will grow. Our focus shifts toward a more cosmic, universal consciousness.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, the Universe Tarot travels Path 32. It joins sephiroth or sphere 9, Yesod (Foundation) to sephiroth or sphere 10, Malkuth (Kingdom). Its Hebrew letter is Tau, meaning “cross,” the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The cross is an ancient symbol. It symbolizes the arrangement of the universe into four directions. It also encompasses the entire universe. Tau is the furthest development of the divine made manifest in the physical world. It represents infinity.

As the last card of the Major Arcana, The Universe Tarot represents the completion of the Great Work. The Fool’s journey begins as the zero moves from nothingness to manifestation. The entire Universe is that manifestation. Its purpose accomplished, it is ready to return to the divine All-Nothingness.

Astrology

The Universe Tarot is the planetary trump of Saturn and the elemental trump of Earth. Contained in this card are the cycles of both Being and Time. This is the momentary pause after much activity. It is the feeling of rest after hard work, even when we know that there is still more work to do. We are in a state of wholeness and unity.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Fire-sign Sagittarius. The Full Moon in airy Gemini on December 12th brings a sense of urgency in communication. We may want to make an important announcement or convey an important message. The focus is on travel and communication now.

On December 14th Saturn in Earth-sign Capricorn is quintile Chiron in fiery Aries. Saturn rules the sign of the Sea-goat and is at home there. We confront our own fears with courage. Watch out for closed-mindedness and rigidity.

On December 15th Jupiter in Capricorn trines Uranus in earthy Taurus. We are open to new approaches and attitudes. New energy invigorates our lives. Good fortune and many benefits are ours if we’re willing to explore the unusual and think outside the box.

This transit is great for group activities. Also favored are writing, publishing and public speaking.

Both Capricorn and Taurus tend to be conventional and traditional thinkers. An open-minded and innovative approach courtesy of Uranus expands our opportunities. Business ventures, money and career flourish.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes superficiality. Appearances are deceptive and this focus is on them rather than substance. Also laziness and depression.

Light

Let’s focus on positive solutions and the satisfaction of a job well-done. Completion and wholeness. Enjoy the sense of returning home.

Alchemy

Power colors: indigo, iridescent blue-black, navy blue for Saturn. Earthy colors of russet, olive, amber and golden-yellow.

Power stones: onyx, obsidian, jet, garnet, rock crystal, quartz, jasper and azurite. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones. You’ll combine Saturn’s responsibility with the grounded, practical and nurturing qualities of Earth.

Power metals: iron and lead. Not great for wearing, but perfect symbols of strength and endurance.

Power fragrances: valerian, comfrey, musk, patchouli, cedar, honeysuckle and magnolia. These will keep you energized, centered and successful this week.

Power foods: foods prepared with thyme and sage. Also any whole grains, nuts and seeds. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Lust Tarot card: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

Lust Tarot card: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

12-03-19 through 12-10-19

Lust Tarot card

The Lust Tarot card is this week’s Tarotcast, known in most decks as the Strength Tarot card. Understand that the reference here goes way beyond sexual lust. It is passion, the lust for life. The vigor and enthusiasm arises when something captures our imaginations. It also sparks our desire to take action. The Thoth Tarot deck swaps this card with Major Arcana card 8: Adjustment (Justice). It is number 11 of the Major Arcana in the Thoth tarot. Good and confused yet? Don’t be!

With trust in ourselves and confidence in our abilities, we’re in a position of power this week. Genuine passion burns for a cause near and dear to our hearts, to our work, to our creative endeavors. Power flows through us. We can be persuasive and charismatic when we speak our truth with heart and soul conviction.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life the Lust Tarot card travels Path 19. It joins sephiroth or sphere 4, Chesed (Mercy) with sephiroth or sphere 5, Geburah (Severity). Crowley designed the Thoth tarot to correspond with his extensive study of Kabbalah. He changed the order and correspondences of some of the Major Arcana cards. Among his many reasons for doing so was that this card’s Hebrew letter, Teth – means “serpent”. He felt that the card’s energy corresponded to the Lion-Serpent, a symbol of the Kundalini. That is the powerful life-force energy cultivated through yogic practice.

Astrology

The Lust Tarot card is the zodiacal trump of Leo. This further reinforces the Lion-Serpent imagery. In this sign, the Sun rules and Uranus is exalted.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Leo’s fellow Fire-sign Sagittarius. Jupiter (in Capricorn) squares Chiron in Fire-sign Aries on December 8th. Healing is possible now if we stay a steady course and avoid impulsive decisions and rash behavior. The fiery drive of these astrological signs complements and fits this week’s theme of passionate creativity perfectly.

Uranus continues a long transit of Earth-sign Taurus. Stable, grounded Taurus is sometimes stubborn and resistant to change. Uranus’ influence there shakes up what’s predictable and certain. Taurus is a fixed sign, as is Leo – the sign of this week’s card. Remember that imagination and creativity require some measure of flexibility. Uranus brings change and resistance is futile. Go with grace.

On December 9th Mercury enters Sagittarius. We’re eager to learn and explore a broad range of topics. We’re more open-minded and optimistic. Combined with the other energies of this forecast period, it’s a great time to pursue higher education. Or, take a class that allows you to develop and expand your creativity – art and music or a craft.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes aggression and bullying. Also, repressing our instincts. That may seem strange considering the card’s name and symbolism. It’s not so strange if we look at it from another perspective. What if our instinct is to bully, browbeat or steamroll someone into submission to our great passion?

Light

Let’s focus on channeling our urges into something positive. Take a moment to look at the source of those passionate feelings. Ask, “What serves my highest good and the highest good of all concerned?” We definitely don’t want to put out our internal fire. We do definitely want a controlled heat – let’s barbecue, not burn down the house!

Alchemy

Power colors: deep, rich, ruby red. Reddish-amber, deep purple and greenish-yellow.

Power stones: ruby, garnet, amber and diamond. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones to channel strength and love as well as passion this week.

Power metal: gold. Especially yellow or rose gold – wear either or both with pride and positivity.

Power fragrances: neroli, patchouli, marigold. Sunflower, cedar and frankincense. These will spark creative and physical passions.

Power foods: food or beverages prepared with hops (more beer!). Galangal (like ginger root), juniper (gin-and-tonics!) Orange, rosemary, cinnamon, cloves or sunflower seeds. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

The Chariot Tarot: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

The Chariot Tarot: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

11-26-19 through 12-03-19

The Chariot

The Chariot tarot card is this week’s Tarotcast. This card hums with “go for it” energy. It allows us to show what we have learned through experience and hard work, and to prove our abilities. We know the reason for our journey and we’re focused on getting there. We are on a journey, actual or metaphorical. We determine both the course of the journey and the outcome when we reach our destination.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, the Chariot travels path 18. The Chariot tarot card joins sephiroth or sphere 3, Binah (Understanding) to sephiroth or sphere 5, Geburah (Severity). This is Major Arcana card number 7. Its Hebrew letter is Cheth, meaning “fence”. Here is a vehicle made to move associated with boundaries and limitations. Does that seem odd? Well, here’s how it works: The Hebrew word for life, living, or alive is “Cha’i,” written in the Hebrew alphabet as, “Cheth Yod”. In Judaism, this word is an emblem of charity, longevity, and good fortune. Pretty good and powerful ways of moving through the world, right?

Astrology

The Chariot tarot card is the zodiacal trump of Cancer, ruled by the Moon, with Jupiter exalted.

In real-time astrology, the Sun is transiting Fire-sign Sagittarius. Jupiter rules Sagittarius and is exalted in Cancer. There is more energetic compatibility here than is immediately obvious. The Sun in Sag shifts our focus to the world at large, the far horizon. We seek connection with something larger than ourselves. Physical energy and self-confidence are high. Honesty and straightforward communication flow now. Cancer energy grounds us and gives us a cozy, intimate home to return to from our travels.

The New Moon in Sagittarius on November 26th intensifies this energy even more. The reciprocal energies of the Moon and Jupiter bring good fortune and expansion. Opportunities abound and new endeavors have a good chance of success.

Neptune turns direct on November 27th. This is a perfect time to release our illusions. Situations that have confused or confounded us become clearer. It’s easier to take our creative inspirations into the real world. With faith in our dreams, we can move forward.
On December 2nd Jupiter enters Earth-sign Capricorn. A strong sense of duty and commitment guides us. We seek recognition as well as dignity, power and status.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes steamrolling others. Becoming an ego-ruled driver who runs down anything in his or her path. Frustration reaching the boiling point. Acting out in road-rage over obstacles, rough patches or detours.

Light

Let’s focus on rolling along with both confidence and compassion. We can benefit by taking well-planned action to maintain a steady course.

Alchemy

Power colors: amber, green, maroon, brownish-reds, and russet.

Power stones: emerald, garnet and amber. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones. You’ll enjoy the spirit of adventure and self-discovery this card represents.

Power metal: silver. It balances sensitive lunar energies with the expansive Jupiter blessings coming your way.

Power fragrances: poppy, white rose, cedar, cypress and honeysuckle. Channel the power of the Chariot tarot – and the charioteer – and keep moving toward your goal.

Power foods: foods prepared with watercress and dandelion greens. Season with clove, sage, cinnamon, poppy seed, anise, mint, nutmeg, sage and cardamom. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Adjustment Tarot: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

Adjustment Tarot: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

11-19-19 through 11-26-19

Adjustment Tarot

The Adjustment tarot card is this week’s Tarotcast. In the Tarot deck I use (Thoth), the Adjustment Tarot card is number 8 of the Major Arcana. But, in many decks the card is Justice and is number 11 of the Majors. Confused yet? Don’t be.

The energy of this card is balanced, impartial and objective. It represents karmic justice in the highest sense. It shows us karma for what it is – a balancing and harmonizing force in the Universe. This card depicts the Egyptian Goddess Maat. Maat judged the souls of the dead by weighing them against one single ostrich feather. Ostrich plumes were her sacred symbol.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, this card travels path 22. It joins sephiroth or sphere 5 Geburah (Severity) to sephiroth or sphere 6 Tiphareth (Beauty). This card’s Hebrew letter, Lamed – means an ox goad (or whip). That’s a pretty strong symbol for justice and the meting out of punishment, wouldn’t you say? This is one of the reasons that Aleister Crowley swapped this card numbered 8 with card number 11 – the Strength card. Which to further confuse and confound you, Crowley calls “Lust”. I won’t go into more explanation or I’ll need to write a dissertation.

Astrology

This card is the zodiacal trump of Libra, with Venus as its ruler and Saturn exalted. Again, this is in keeping with the idea of Justice. The Libra Scales balance Saturn’s highest energy. The fulfillment of obligations and responsibilities, both practical and karmic.

In real-time astrology, the Sun completes its transit of Water-sign Scorpio. It enters Fire-sign Sagittarius on November 22nd. Mercury is now direct in Scorpio. The Sun in Sag sparks exploration of religion and spirituality. We aim toward our highest goals.

On November 25th Venus enters Earth-sign Capricorn, ruled by Saturn. This is a perfect alignment with the energy of this week’s card. Communications are serious and cautious. We’re concerned with our reputations and the good opinions of others. We may find ourselves focused on conservative approaches and traditional values. Loyalty, trustworthiness and patience are important this week.

Lots of positive energy surrounds the New Moon in Sagittarius on November 26th. This energy brings a fresh start. It’s an opportunity to welcome new beginnings. We celebrate life transitions and spiritual healing.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes hypocrisy and self-righteousness. Unless we’ve walked a mile in the other person’s Louboutins, better to hold off on a condemnation. Also, we shouldn’t expect from others what we don’t expect from ourselves. “Do as I say, not as I do” is a formula for failure under this week’s influences.

Light

Let’s focus on balancing out various areas of our lives this week. Are we overworking, overeating, or otherwise “over” indulging? Time to work in some healthier harmony. With the Adjustment Tarot card, it’s best to choose the middle way rather than the extremes. We’ll be happier, better-rested and more refreshed if we do.

Alchemy:

Power colors: emerald green, pale green and deep blue and deep blue-green.

Power stones: sapphire, lapis, emerald, opal, jade, garnet, onyx and obsidian. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones. They will enhance our sense of fairness, balance, good judgment. They will help us fulfill our responsibilities and obligations.

Power metals: copper and lead. Copper is the better choice for wearing. Meditate on the idea that lead is very heavy, but also soft and malleable.

Power fragrances: violet, rose, bergamot, apple, strawberry and vanilla. Also, beauty products made from hempseed, olive and grapeseed oils. These are natural, luxurious indulgences. All will help us channel the beauty, pleasure and luxury of Venus. At the same time, they will balance the responsible, pragmatic sobriety of Saturn. Justice – or rather, Adjustment is the natural, positive result.

Power foods: foods prepared with apples, strawberries, vanilla, figs, grapes, dates, lentils, thyme. Also olive or grapeseed oil. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

6 of Pentacles: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

6 of Pentacles (Disks)

Weekly Tarotcast™: 11-12-19 through 11-19-19

6 of pentacles

The 6 of Pentacles is this week’s Tarotcast card – known in the Thoth Tarot as the 6 of Disks. This suit is also called Coins. We can overcome financial crises and experience welcome material gains this week.

The energy of this card is great for acts of generosity on the emotional as well as the material level. We’re likely to have a better understanding and tolerance of other people. The Six of Disks is great for harmonizing and balancing opposing forces. We’ll have plenty of chances to use that energy to our own benefit and the benefit of others.

The Elements

The natural, pure and material success of Earth is in transition. The Moon’s phases are always changing, so it’s best to remember that all things pass. Failure gives way to success, decrease to increase, dark to light.

The Number 6

The sixes of the Minor Arcana restore harmony and balance. The fives cause disruption. They cleanse, regenerate and create conflict in a stable system. Afterward, the sixes bring affirmation, confirmation, validation and solidification.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life this card represents the formula 6. Sephiroth or sphere 6, Tiphareth (Beauty). The sphere of the Sun, energy in completely balanced manifestation. In the suit of Disks (Assiah, the material world). The element of Earth – our physical bodies, senses, assets and resources – combined with the Moon in Taurus equaling Success.

Astrology

The 6 of Pentacles (Disks) corresponds to the Moon in Taurus. It rules from 10 to 20 degrees Taurus, or May 1st through May 10th. So, if your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. The moon is exalted in Taurus and the best lunar qualities have a chance to shine here. It’s definitely a happy place, so we may want to slow down a little to enjoy our successes.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Water-sign Scorpio. On November 12th the Full Moon in Taurus trines Pluto (the planetary ruler of Scorpio). Emotions are intense and deep. We may absorb others’ emotions too. It may be difficult to separate our own emotions from those of people around us. We will take these emotions to heart. This lunation is generally positive for completion of long-term projects. It is a nice complement to the energy of the 6 of Pentacles (Disks). Taurus’ patience and Scorpio’s tenacity can overcome almost any obstacle. Our chances for success are enhanced this week.

Mercury and Mars

While Mercury wraps up its retrograde in Scorpio, it will be joined by Mars on November 19th. Mars was the traditional ruler of this sign before Pluto was discovered, demoted, then “re”-discovered. The drive and passion associated with Mars is evident in sun-sign Scorpios. Mars also rules the Fire sign Aries. Those traits are seen with sun-sign Aries, however Aries tends to be more overt, in-your-face and openly aggressive.

Mercury Retrograde Ends

Mercury is about to turn direct in Scorpio on November 20th. I think we’ll be sighing with relief since along with the usual retrograde snafus and frustrations, this retrograde has been emotionally intense. There is a strong desire to seek – and to speak – the truth. Although that can be beneficial, it can make for some heated discussions and trips into uncharted territory.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes greed and stinginess. Manipulation by withholding or granting material resources. Controlling others using material or financial resources. “Killing the golden goose.”

Light

Let’s focus on love, understanding, support and charity. Even if you can only give a little – find a worthy cause close to your heart and contribute to it. Or give someone a material, emotional or spiritual helping hand.

Alchemy

Power colors: gold, amber, blue, silver, orange, olive and deep indigo blue.

Power stones: sapphire, emerald, turquoise and jade. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones to remain grounded. We’ll use our resources well this week.

Power metals: copper (Venus) and silver (the Moon). Mix and match to make a spiritual (and fashionable) statement.

Power fragrances: violet, rose, poppy, gardenia and jasmine. Also, lotus, myrrh, sandalwood, coconut and wintergreen (mint) help us stay in the spirit of generosity this week.

Power foods: foods prepared with poppy seeds, lotus root, coconut and wintergreen. Beverages made with coconut (Pina Coladas, anyone?) or wintergreen/mint (Mojitos maybe?). All provide the same beneficial effects already described.
