Three of Swords: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

3-31-20 through 4-07-20

Three of SwordsThis week’s Tarotcast card is the Three of Swords. This is difficult and challenging energy in a difficult and challenging suit. The Three of Swords is often interpreted as worldly sorrows. Loss through separation or death, the end of a relationship, or a serious illness. These are the sources of human suffering. Often, we can’t begin to heal until we remove the source of the suffering or disease. The energy of this card reveals that all things come to an end, but also that all things pass, even profound grief.

The Elements

Air, limitless imagination and freedom, suffocates under the physical weight of the world. Creation is not possible.

The Number 3

The Threes of the Minor Arcana represent form and structure. They are the first results or manifestations of energy. They show the effects of energy in action – in this case, for Swords and Air. They bring a perspective, a viewpoint and an understanding of events and situations. Threes show the process of resolution and unification. This is a natural progression following the polarization and duality of the twos.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, the Three of Swords represents the formula 3. Sephiroth or sphere 3, Binah (Understanding). Divine Feminine energy, or Yin. The sphere of Saturn. In the suit of Swords (Yetzirah) the formative world. The element of Air – our mental and intellectual processes. Plus, Saturn in Libra equaling Sorrow.

From a Kabbalistic perspective, the Three of Swords represents higher consciousness. It is beyond that which we can access in our day-to-day world. This is the consciousness of worldly suffering that transformed Siddhartha into the Buddha. The energy becomes transcendent, a higher perception illuminating the path to enlightenment.

Astrology

The Three of Swords represents Saturn in Libra. It rules from 10 to 20 degrees Libra, or October 3rd to October 12th. If your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. We may experience actual loss during this forecast period. More likely our sadness will be over something intangible and undefinable.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Fire-sign Aries. Aries is Libra’s polar opposite sign on the astrological wheel. Neither sign is comfortable under the heavy weight of Saturn. Aries’ martial strength and endurance can handle a lot more of the pressure.

Saturn is currently transiting Air-sign Aquarius, joined there by Mars on March 30th. Aquarius can detach and take an impersonal, intellectual perspective while maintaining compassion. This energy is a good match to that of the Three of Swords.

When Jupiter conjuncts Pluto on April 4th we’re ambitious. We’re determined to achieve our goals. Going big is easy, but this is not a time of limitless expansion.

The Super Full Moon in Libra April 7th highlights our need for balance and integration. This is especially true where opposing demands in our lives create tension. Balance and harmony are more than mere ideals. They are essential to our emotional wellbeing.

Under this Full Moon, we are sensitive to any lack of fairness. The Sun in Aries helps us to look out for our own best interests. Remember that you may not be the only one affected by your decisions. Keep a clear understanding of which concerns and preferences are your own. You can’t please everyone.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes self-delusion. Self-pity. The belief that our pain, misery or loss is the “worst in the world”.

Light

Let’s focus on the insights we gain. We realize that what we are “losing” are old or erroneous beliefs and perceptions. We may detach ourselves from situations and relationships we’ve long outgrown. Painful it may be. But it is more painful to remain in illusion, helplessness and blindness.

Alchemy

Power colors: dark brown, black and blue-black (for Saturn). Balance these with Libra colors: emerald green, deep blue-green and sky blue. It may be difficult to combine these energies. Harmony is possible with careful balance.

Power stones: onyx, garnet, opal and sapphire. Wear as jewelry or carry as power stones for grounding. They will give us the ability to look past our immediate circumstances to the near future.

Power metals: copper and lead – wear the copper. Let the lead remind you of what to “get out.” Once you lighten up, you’ll move through and past limiting circumstances.

Power fragrances: violet, rose, musk, patchouli and valerian. Combined, these will balance Saturn’s heavy energy with the ethereal spirit of Libra.

Power foods: foods prepared with thyme as well as tea brewed from comfrey. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

The Hermit: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

The Hermit: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

3-24-20 through 3-31-20

The Hermit

This week’s Tarotcast card is The Hermit. As always, I drew this week’s Tarotcast card at random. Since the state I live in issued a stay-at-home order that went into effect this past Saturday, The Hermit turned out to be the perfect card for this week.

The Hermit card shows us that taking a solitary path will aid us in our search for truth. Solitude and being alone don’t have to mean feeling lonely. But we may find that we seek and very much enjoy our own company this week. Probing our own inner consciousness and exploring our psyches will appeal to us. We find the solutions to our problems through the insights we gain and the discoveries we make. We’ll have the seeds to sow for a crop of new ideas and fresh directions.

With the concerns over COVID-19, The Hermit card reflects current events. The same events we will likely withdraw from this week. We are in retreat from our relationships and surroundings. This is not due to depression or disinterest, but the energy this week calls us to look within. Through reflection and introspection, we emerge refreshed, renewed and ready for action again.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, The Hermit travels path 20. It joins sephiroth or sphere 4, Chesed (Mercy), sphere of Jupiter and the rule of law; to sephiroth or sphere 6, Tiphareth (Beauty). Sphere of the Sun; energy in complete and balanced manifestation. Its Hebrew letter is Yod, meaning the hand. It is with our hands that we sow seeds. They lie hidden in the ground during the early stages of their development and growth. Then they sprout. It is also with our hands that we cultivate our gardens – and harvest their bounty.

Astrology

The Hermit is the zodiacal trump of Virgo, in which Mercury both rules and is exalted. Mercury, the Earth and Sun come together in this card to create the special magic of growing things. The seed placed into the soil undergoes a transformation. It bursts forth into the sunlight to be further nurtured and grow to maturity. Here Mercury (Hermes to the Greeks) shows us his versatility. He is more than a messenger and trickster. He also acts as a guide for the dead crossing over. He is an interpreter and a transformer. He is the patron of boundaries; also, the travelers who navigate them. This applies to both geographical and metaphorical boundaries.

In real-time astrology, the Sun is transiting Fire-sign Aries. Mars’ and Aries’ energy are not the best match to the energy of this week’s card. They are outward-directed and action-oriented. Use this energy to fuel your plans while you’re in contemplation.

New Moon in Aries on March 24th: this lunation promises a fresh start. We’re ready to act without fear on our pure and innocent impulses. The time for over-thinking or worrying about what others think is over. Self-reliance gives us integrity, confidence and an aura of strength. Combined with the energy of The Hermit card, we may experience a pause or delay before going forward.

Mercury is still transiting Water-sign Pisces, Aries’ next-door neighbor in the Zodiac. Mercury in Pisces brings gentle and compassionate communication. When necessary, keep communication honest and direct. Intuition is strong during this transit. Avoid the tendency toward vagueness or moodiness.

Take time to dream and imagine – but don’t let these states take you into La-La Land.

On March 30th, Mars enters Air-sign Aquarius. Independence and innovative, creative thought highlight this transit. Avoid obstinance. Enjoy intellectual pursuits. Find the method in your own “madness”. Respect others’ freedom as much as your own. The combination of intelligence and a strong will can lead to domination of others to get our own way. Be forewarned. Go with the basic energy of this transit – live and let live.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of The Hermit card includes rigid thinking. Hard attitudes. Inflexibility. Bitterness and hostility toward the outside world – even narcissism.

Light

Let’s focus on the qualities of emotional maturity, wisdom and enlightenment.

Alchemy

Power colors: yellowish green, slate grey, grey-green and plum.

Power music: this is a great week to listen to Revolution 9 from the Beatles’ White Album. For classical, Beethoven’s Ninth symphony or Gregorian chants. This is Major Arcana card number 9 – the number which always comes back to itself.

Power stones: onyx, clear crystal and diamonds. Wear as jewelry or carry as power stones. They will make your alone-time or me-time productive, meaningful and instructive.

Power metals: gold and platinum. Pricey yes, but wear ‘em if you’ve got ‘em, because they symbolize the light that is born from darkness.

Power fragrances: lily, valerian, lavender, lilac, and frankincense. These will awaken the introspective and transformative powers of the Hermit.

Power foods: foods prepared with parsley, dill, rosemary, lavender, lemongrass and mace. Tea brewed from peppermint; as well as beverages containing juniper (gin!) and wormwood (absinthe!) – in moderation, please! All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Six of Swords: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

Six of Swords: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

3-17-20 through 3-24-20

Six of Swords

This week’s Tarotcast card is the Six of Swords. This week we’re moving along on our journey. We find a gateway to new solutions for our problems. We are distancing ourselves from the past. Swords represent the intellect and mental processes. We are clear-headed and our ability to focus and concentrate is excellent. Intense curiosity and analytical thinking are also signified by this card.

The Elements

In the Six of Swords, the intellectual processes of Air use the scientific method. Creative evaluation and communication follow.

The Number 6

The sixes of the Minor Arcana restore harmony, balance and the energy of success. They address the disruption caused by the fives. The sixes bring affirmation, confirmation, validation and solidification. In the Six of Swords, the Air element acts as the force of creative intelligence.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, the Six of Swords represents the formula 6. Sephiroth or sphere 6, Tiphareth (Beauty) sphere of the Sun. Here energy manifests in a completely balanced way. In the suit of Swords (Yetzirah), the formative world. The element of Air -our mental and intellectual processes. Plus, Mercury in Aquarius equaling Science.

Astrology

The Six of Swords corresponds to Mercury in Aquarius. It rules from 10 to 20 degrees Aquarius, or January 30th to February 8th. If your birthday falls on or between those dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Intellectual balance is at home here. Through the application of right thinking and right action, we’ve earned – or are earning – our success.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Water-sign Pisces. Post-retrograde Mercury is also transiting Pisces after a brief period in Aquarius. Through March 29th, we’ll approach recent decisions and discussions with a fresh perspective. Research or planning done during retrograde can now move forward. Give it a once-over and act.

When the Sun enters Aries on March 19, the call to action will be even stronger. Keep your head but move your feet.

On March 21 Saturn begins a brief transit of Aquarius. It will make a return visit to Capricorn, then a longer transit of Aquarius starts December 17th. Use this energy to clean up and clear out what no longer serves. Focus on quality instead of quantity. Simplify. Use technology to connect. Plans, goals and dreams become practical.

The Aries New Moon on March 24 brings a fresh start. We can act without fear on our pure and innocent impulses. The time for over-thinking or worrying about what others think is over. Self-reliance gives us integrity, confidence and an aura of strength.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes skepticism. Also mistrust, prejudicial or overly critical and judgmental thinking.

Light

Let’s focus on our search for truth with objectivity. Use holistic thinking and intense analysis for constructive purposes!

Alchemy

Power colors: yellow, purple, grey, violet, indigo and salmon pink.

Power stones: jade, jasper, topaz, aquamarine as well as amber and malachite. Wear as jewelry or carry as power stones to keep your head clear and your thoughts balanced this week.

Power metals: uranium, mercury and zinc are this week’s metals. None are wearable and two are untouchable. A little zinc oxide on your nose will prevent sunburn there, though. Remember both uranium and mercury are excellent servants when properly used.

Power fragrances: cornflower, lilac, vervain (verbena), snowdrop and foxglove. These will enhance your intellectual and analytical powers this week.

Power foods: foods prepared with parsley, dill, rosemary, lemongrass, peppermint and mace. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Ten of Cups: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

Ten of Cups: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

3-10-20 through 3-17-20

Ten of Cups

This week’s Tarotcast card is the Ten of Cups. The Ten of Cups Tarot card is contentment and satisfaction. This week we’ll enjoy being with our families and other loved ones. We can feel emotional stability in all our personal relationships. This includes romantic relationships too! Take time to show your appreciation for friends, family and your significant other. Gratitude will help you to experience the joy of this card’s influence and energy.

Avoid becoming smug. This card’s energy can lead to self-satisfaction and entitled behavior. There is a tendency to become restless, dissatisfied and contentious. We want to shake things up for the hell of it. Happiness can be fragile. Sometimes fulfilling a desire causes us to reject the very thing we’ve gotten. Use caution around the major pitfalls of this card.

The Elements

Here, Water’s placid, peaceful and passive natural flow is set to boil from Mars’ fiery heat. The boiling disrupts and the steam dissipates.

The Number 10

The Tens of the Minor Arcana represent completion. They are the manifestation and culmination of energy. This completion gives way to new beginnings.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, the Ten of Cups represents the formula 10. Sephiroth or sphere 10, Malkuth (Kingdom). The sphere of Earth, the material world. In the suit of Cups (Briah). The creative world. The element of Water and the emotions plus Mars in Pisces equaling Satiety.

Astrology

The Ten of Cups corresponds to Mars in Pisces. It rules from 20 to 30 degrees Pisces, or March 11th through March 20th. If your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. This is not the most comfortable astrological pairing. Mars energy is restless, disruptive and aggressive. It is a marked contrast to Pisces’ spirituality and peacefulness.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Water-sign Pisces. Mars is transiting Earth-sign Capricorn. This is good energy for low-key, determined action. There is a steadiness here that balances the energy of this week’s card. Avoid the tendency to over-control. Work toward realistic, attainable goals.

On March 12th, the author of the Tarotcast celebrates her birthday. Which one? Not telling! From this point on, it’s all “older than dirt”. But still on this side of the dirt, thanks very much. I did pick this card at random as I do all Tarotcasts – it happened to be my own “birthday card.” Nothing wrong with that.

On March 16th Mercury enters Pisces. Intellectual, mental Mercury rules our communication style. During this transit Mercury is direct, completing its shadow phase. We’re open-minded and find new solutions to old issues. Often these come from a place or perspective we’ve not considered before.

Mercury in Pisces shines a spotlight into our deepest thoughts. It illuminates fresh inspiration, creativity and bright ideas.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of the Ten of Cups includes feelings of having too much of a good thing. Being fed-up (filled up or overstuffed) with something. A good example: a party guest has a few drinks and is feeling good. Then he has a few more, gets sloppy-drunk, and winds up sick and barfing all over the host’s carpet. Be forewarned.

Light

Let’s focus on being thankful in the present moment. Realize that all good things both increase and decrease in cycles.

Alchemy

Power colors: red and scarlet for Mars. Flecked silvery-white for Pisces (like fish scales!)

Power stones: rubies, bloodstones and garnets (for Mars). Sapphire, emerald, amethyst and aquamarine (for Pisces). Wear as jewelry or carry as power stones to stay aware of the need for gentleness and gratitude this week.

Power metals: tin and iron. Neither is good for wearing. Both can remind us to find the happy medium. The middle way between flexibility/adaptability or rigidity/aggression/violence.

Power fragrances: rose, thistle and pine will muster up Martial courage and purpose. Pisces heliotrope, carnation and poppy will smooth out the bumps.

Power foods: foods prepared with allspice, ginger, cayenne pepper and garlic. These will enhance Mars’ energy. But avoid them if you’re feeling restless, careless or aggressive. Try Pisces’ clove, sage, poppy, anise, cinnamon, mint or nutmeg instead. Careful combination can produce harmonious results. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Seven of Wands: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

Seven of Wands: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

3-03-20 through 3-10-20

Seven of Wands

This week’s Tarotcast card is the Seven of Wands. This card warns us that we may be wasting our energy this week. There is a struggle going on for sure. Feelings of bravery and assertiveness against feelings of degeneration and weakness. There are challenges and obstacles galore. We may feel as if no one has our back – our struggle is ours alone, and there may not be much help or support. If we do achieve a victory, it’s likely to come through our own efforts.

The Elements

The Fire of Leo burns hot with bravery and inspiring leadership. But it can also lose itself in the heat of Martial battle, destroying everything in sight. Discipline dissolves into chaos and disorder.

The Number 7

The Sevens of the Minor Arcana illustrate the motives behind manifestation. The balance of the sixes gives way to questioning and exploration. Disruption arises from the search for the underlying causes of action. The Sevens dissolve and deconstruct.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life the Seven of Wands represents the formula 7. Sephiroth or sphere 7, Netzach (Victory) sphere of Venus. Illusion, imbalance, weakness. In the suit of Wands (Atziluth, the archetypal world). The element of Fire; the will. Plus Mars in Leo Valour.

Astrology

The Seven of Wands represents Mars in Leo. It rules from 20 to 30 degrees Leo, or August 12th through August 22nd. If your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Mars in Leo is ambitious and idealistic, with the ability to persevere. Valour is another word for courage. In this case it may come across as vanity, bravado, false machismo, or senseless resistance.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Water-sign Pisces. On March 4th, Mercury retrogrades into Air-Sign Aquarius, Leo’s polar opposite sign. Leo and Aquarius combine a big heart and a big mind. The best of both is their generosity of spirit. Emotional intelligence and a playful spirit unite these two opposite signs.

Mars is currently in Earth-sign Capricorn, aligning with the South Node. We see where we need to distance ourselves or detach from situations or people. Combined with the energy of this week’s card, there’s a risk of fixating on losing battles. But if we apply this energy and concentrate on the right things, our determination will pay off.

On March 9th, The Sun aligns with Neptune the same day Mercury stations direct.

The Full Moon in Earth-sign Virgo on March 9th focuses us on the areas of our lives that need order and structure. If we’ve been procrastinating about work or health goals, it’s time to take action. This lunation harmonizes with Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn in Capricorn. We’re inspired and motivated. It’s time to make the effort to realize our dreams.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes indecisiveness. Blind ignorance. Swaggering arrogance with nothing to back it up. A mismatch between our assertiveness and our plain old good sense. If there was ever a week to choose your battles wisely, this would be the one.

Light

Let’s focus on conserving our energy. Let’s use it where it can do the most good. More, let’s realize that sometimes the most courageous thing we can do is forgo a battle – just skip it. Bravery can mean walking away from a battle we’re guaranteed to lose.

Alchemy

Power colors: amber, all shades of red, yellow and deep purple.

Power metals: Mars iron and Leo gold. Wear the Leo (yellow or rose) gold to remind you of Leo’s big-hearted courage but skip the Lion’s arrogance and vanity. We can’t wear iron, but it can remind us of when to show true strength and what that looks like.

Power stones: ruby, bloodstone, garnet, amber and diamond. Wear as jewelry or carry as power stones to avoid the tendency to be hot-headed or combative this week.

Power fragrances: marigold, sunflower, wild rose, pine, and tobacco (no, you don’t need to smoke it!). These will keep us focused on winnable battles, and to make good use of our energy and time.

Power foods: foods prepared with allspice, cayenne, garlic, ginger and pepper. Also, thistle (think artichokes!) Along with beverages made from hops (beer), or wormwood (the Green Fairy – absinthe). In moderation, of course. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.
