The Moon: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

  9-15-20 through 9-22-20

The Moon

The Moon is this week’s Tarotcast card. Lots of people find this card spooky. It can be, since it invites and draws us deep into the world of the unconscious, sleep, and dreams – or nightmares.

This week challenges us to overcome fear, the “dark night of the soul” that The Moon card represents. Be willing to make your journey with courage. You can use the symbols and images of your dream-state to master the waking world. Emotion and intuition run strong this week. Things are not what they appear to be. But then again, the challenge – both practical and spiritual – is to acknowledge our fear and move forward. Repression or denial creates a nightmare landscape. Acknowledgement and acceptance bring the mysterious and unknown to light.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, The Moon card travels path 29. It joins sephiroth or sphere 7, Netzach (Victory); sphere of Venus, the masculinized Yin. with sephiroth or sphere 10, Malkuth (Kingdom). Malkuth represents our material, physical world. The Moon card’s Hebrew letter is Qoph, which means the back of the head. In our physical brain anatomy, the back of the head is the location of the occipital lobes. They are responsible for our visual perception systems. Disorders or diseases affecting the occipital lobe can cause visual hallucinations and illusions. This is in keeping with the nature of the Moon and its elusive – and sometimes deceptive – energy.

Astrology

The Moon card is the zodiacal trump of Pisces where Jupiter and Neptune rule and Venus is exalted.

In real-time astrology, the Sun completes it’s transit of Earth-sign Virgo. Virgo is Pisces’ polar opposite on the wheel of the Zodiac. Jupiter is now direct in Earth-sign Capricorn. This boosts our self-confidence. We make major progress on projects. Practical use of knowledge helps us balance the energy of this week’s card.

Neptune is retrograde in its home sign of Pisces. During September, we can channel our inspiration into physical work and creativity. This is a choice. The other side is escaping reality by idle fantasy and daydreaming. With the energy of this week’s card, your choice will be more challenging.

“If you believed they put a man on the moon (man on the moon), if you believed there’s nothing up his sleeve, then nothing is cool…”

The September 17th New Moon in Virgo encourages us to take an active role in our lives. Edit, purge, organize. Refine your work and attend to your health goals. We benefit from routines. This is productive and fertile energy, so make sure you are nurturing that which serves you best.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes succumbing to fear. Hysteria. Paranoia. Indulging in drugs or alcohol to escape reality. Any or all these can only worsen matters and trap us in a hall of mirrors.

Light

Let’s focus on trusting to our intuitive knowledge. Deep understanding brings great rewards this week. Connect your dreaming and dreamlike intuition to your waking consciousness. In this way, we can turn dreams – rather than nightmares – into reality.

Alchemy

Power colors: crimson, silver, black and silver-flecked white. Violet and pale blue-green.

Power stones: emeralds, amethyst, aquamarine and sapphire. Wear these as jewelry or carry as power stones for courage and much-need illumination.

Power metal: tin. Not great for wearing, but a good reminder in this way. Treatment with a coating of tin prevents other metals from corrosion. We can use our waking consciousness to protect the powerful energy of our intuition.

Power fragrances: heliotrope, carnation, opium and belladonna. These will help us stay tuned into and focused on the light in the darkness.

Power foods: foods prepared with members of the nightshade family – tomatoes and peppers. Also, foods made with poppy seeds, lotus root and coconut. Tea brewed from jasmine or wintergreen. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Five of Wands: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

Five of Wands: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

  9-08-20 through 9-15-20

Five of Wands

The Five of Wands is this week’s Tarotcast card. With the Five of Wands tarot card, there’s competition and conflict in the air. Yet, these aren’t negative. Be prepared to stand your ground. Don’t give up or give in but keep in mind that conflict needn’t include aggression. Healthy competition allows us to showcase our abilities and prove our skills. Expect excited, heated discussions and debates. The rapid exchange of diverse ideas can cause the best to rise to the top. But everything can degenerate into hostility and bickering. Choose well.

The Elements

Leo Fire under the weight and pressure of Saturn lead creates a volcanic energy. It creates and destroys at the same time.

The Number 5

The Fives of the Minor Arcana challenge order and structure. Their suit and element get shaken out of complacency, stagnation or stasis. They bring a period of cleansing, regeneration, or reassessment in events and relationships. The number 5 keeps energy flowing. Otherwise, the solidification and stability created by the fours would degenerate into inertia.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, the Five of Wands card represents the formula 5. Sephiroth or sphere 5, Geburah (Strength). The sphere of Mars. Motion, storm and stress. In the suit of Wands (Atziluth). The archetypal world; the element of Fire – the will. Plus Saturn in Leo equaling Strife.

Astrology

The Five of Wands represents Saturn in Leo. It rules from 0 to 10 degrees Leo, or July 22nd to August 1st. If your birthday falls on or between those dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Completing a triad of fire energy, Leo roars along in the suit of Wands and the sphere of Mars. But Saturn represents a heavy and unyielding resistance and weight. So, we have a strong, active planet in a fiery sphere and a fiery sign. All perfectly happy together – almost.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Earth-sign Virgo. Venus entered Fire-sign Leo on September 6th. This energy is outgoing, warm, affectionate. Romance is passionate and expressive. We are generous with money and may be craving attention. We look for validation and acknowledgement for our accomplishments. With both pride and passion at the forefront, avoid overstatement. Extravagance can look like a competitive challenge.

“A good friend of mine follows the stars – Venus and Mars are alright tonight…”

Mars retrogrades in Leo’s fellow Fire-sign Aries on September 9th. It will spend its entire retrograde cycle in the sign of the Ram. This is a great time to reassess our projects and ambitions. When Mars energy turns inward it intensifies. Under pressure, we may instigate arguments or create problems. Avoid passive-aggressive behavior. It’s a better time to look within and examine our own motives and desires.

Saturn continues its long retrograde in Earth-sign Capricorn. Jupiter turns direct in Capricorn on September 12th. Our self-confidence soars. We can now make major progress on projects. Relationships can turn the corner and move forward. We’re prepared to share what we’ve learned. Don’t force anyone to take in new information though – just make sure it’s on offer.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of the Five of Wands includes recklessness. Rash action, anger and poor sportsmanship. Aggressive confrontation.

Light

Let’s focus on rising to meet the challenges we face. We can settle conflicts and disputes with the best possible solutions and ideas.

Alchemy

Power colors: orange, yellow, red and amber (for Leo) as well as indigo and black (for Saturn).

Power stones: rubies, diamonds, amber, onyx, obsidian and jet. Wear these as jewelry or carry as power stones. They will enhance strength, perseverance and persistence along with creativity and pride.

Power metals: gold (Leo) along with lead (Saturn). Go for the yellow or rose gold! Remember that the alchemists strove to turn base metal (lead) into gold. This symbolizes the transformation from our basest selves to our highest selves.

Power fragrances: marigold, sunflower, valerian, comfrey, musk and patchouli. These will provide a clear head, a strong and passionate heart, and a courageous spirit this week.

Power foods: foods prepared with thyme or sunflower seeds. Tea brewed from comfrey. Beer brewed with hops (consumed in moderation of course). All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Three of Wands: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

Three of Wands: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

  9-01-20 through 9-08-20

Three of Wands

The Three of Wands is this week’s Tarotcast card. We’re poised at the brink of success, and we will definitely enjoy a shot of positive group energy. We’re successful in our interaction with others. Inspired, we connect with a talent pool of valuable people and resources. We’re ready to enter the next phase of our endeavors. We will need to make sure that our energy stays collaborative and not coercive, though.

The Elements

With the Three of Wands, Solar fire energizes the material and physical. Action leads to successful manifestation.

The Number 3

The Threes of the Minor Arcana represent form and structure. They are the first results or manifestations. They show the effects of energy in action – in this case, for Wands and Fire. They bring a perspective, a viewpoint and an understanding of events and situations. Threes show the process of resolution and unification. This is a natural progression following the polarization and duality of the twos.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, the Three of Wands represents the formula 3. Sephiroth or sphere 3, Binah (Understanding). The sphere of Saturn. The Divine Feminine or Yin energy. In the suit of Wands – Atziluth, the archetypal world. Combined with the element of Fire (the life force of the soul, the will). Plus the Sun in Aries, equaling Virtue.

Astrology

The Three of Wands card corresponds to the Sun in Aries. It rules from 10 to 20 degrees Aries, or March 31st to April 10th. If your birthday falls on or between these dates you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us.

This energy is powerful, confident, creative and lively. We can take the initiative in some nearly-brilliant ways and make our dreams of success a reality.

In real-time astrology, The Sun is transiting Earth-sign Virgo. This complementary energy works well with that of this week’s card. Our brilliance can illuminate practical matters. We build our success on solid principles. The Full Moon in Water-sign Pisces on September 2nd revs up our intuition. Pay attention to your dreams. There is a drawback to this energy. We need to remain conscious in the present while traveling mysterious realms.

The time is always right to do what is right.

With Mercury currently transiting Virgo we can resolve this paradox. Near this Full Moon it trines with Pluto and Saturn (both in Earth-sign Capricorn). This will help us avoid confusion and see the truth of any situation.

A quick preview of the Mars Retrograde in Aries beginning September 9th. Mars is Aries’ ruling planet. The Warrior God is quite at home here. Our sex drive and career ambitions may hit pause. This can raise frustration and impatience. Be advised though – conflicts are likely to be unproductive now. Why make a bad situation worse?

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of the Three of Wands includes overdoing it. Acting-out, creating drama, and engaging in attention-seeking behaviors. Steam-rolling over others and stealing or not crediting their ideas and input.

Light

Let’s focus on putting positive energy into constructive action. We have the perfect conditions to manifest our developing confidence and self-assurance. Take opportunities to achieve success.

Alchemy

Power colors: orange, red, scarlet, crimson, amber, yellow and gold (for both the Sun and Aries).

Power stones: ruby, bloodstone, diamond, amber, topaz and garnet. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones to do the right things for the right reasons. This is the meaning of “Virtue” and this week – as the old saying goes, “virtue is its own reward”.

Power metal: Gold. Yellow or rose gold, in this case – strong, beautiful and eternal. Wear it to find the right tools, make the right plan and act with the right attitude.

Power fragrances: rose, juniper, orange and frankincense to experience optimism and strength.

Power foods: foods prepared with sunflower seeds, galangal, orange, rosemary, cinnamon and clove. How about some gin (juniper!) or beer (hops!) enjoyed responsibly. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

The Fool: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

The Fool: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

  8-25-20 through 9-01-20

The Fool

The Fool is this week’s Tarotcast card. The Fool represents the unlimited potential of the human spirit. Purity of intent and action. He is actually NObody’s fool. He is simply innocent of experience and embarking on the first steps of his journey. This is the journey through the spiritual paths of the Tarot and through everyday life.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life The Fool card travels path 12. It joins sephiroth or sphere 1, Kether (Crown) to sephiroth or sphere 3, Binah (Understanding). Its Hebrew letter is Beth (meaning “house”). This includes not only the homes in which we live – but the temple or house of God.

One of the many secrets of the Fool – and there are many – is his direct, pure connection to the Divine. Many cultures have celebrated and revered this holy innocent. He dances through the streets in his motley clothes, clowns around and pulls silly faces. He invites us to get in on the answer to the great cosmic riddle. He tells us the punch-line to the big cosmic joke. That everything is no-thing, limitless potential – zero. And that happens to be his number in the Tarot Major Arcana.

Astrology

The Fool tarot card is the Planetary Trump of Mercury. Mercury is the wing-footed messenger of the Gods, as well as the Trickster and Juggler. Childlike rather than childish, he trusts his instincts and creative imagination. We would do well to emulate him.

In real-time astrology, The Sun is transiting Earth-sign Virgo. Mercury co-rules both Virgo and Air-sign Gemini. Mercury is also transiting Virgo.

“She is fast and thorough…and sharp as a tack…she’s touring the facility
and picking up slack…

We’re detail-minded during this transit. Keeping things on track, organized and in order comes easily now. This is a great time to deal with practical matters. Run errands, pay your bills on time, and give the kitchen floor a good scrub-down. A tidy environment brings peace of mind this week.

Get shizz done – there is probably no better astrological aspect for TCB.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of The Fool includes rash, irresponsible behavior. Pushing too far too fast. Carelessness, and losing complete touch with reality, along with possible dishonesty and deception.

Light

Let’s focus on being open and receptive to new beginnings and new projects. Let’s be willing to start the steps of our journey even if the destination, goal or outcome isn’t yet clear.

Alchemy

Power colors: pale yellow, sky blue, purple, violet and emerald green. Wear them all together at the same time if you’re feeling particularly FOOL-ish.

Power stones: diamond, jade, aquamarine, turquoise and emerald. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones. These will help us enter unknown territory with trust, enthusiasm and optimism. And we will find treasure along the path.

Power metals: mercury and zinc. Neither is wearable. But their qualities remind us to be flexible. Be ready to connect with others for strength. Manage ever-changing circumstances with grace.

Power fragrances: iris, valerian, lavender, lilac, vervain, jasmine and geranium. These will help you manifest positive, creative and transformative energy this week.

Power foods: foods prepared with parsley, dill, rosemary, lemongrass, mace, peppermint and tarragon. Teas brewed from jasmine or peppermint. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Adjustment: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

Adjustment: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

  8-18-20 through 8-25-20

Adjustment  Adjustment is this week’s Tarotcast card. The Adjustment card represents balance. It is impartial and objective. It is karmic justice in the highest sense. It shows us karma for what it is – a balancing and harmonizing force in the Universe. This card depicts the Egyptian Goddess Maat. Maat judged the souls of the dead by weighing them against one single ostrich feather. Ostrich plumes were her sacred symbol.

In the Tarot deck I use (Thoth), the Adjustment Tarot card is number 8 of the Major Arcana. But, in many decks the card is Justice and is number 11 of the Majors. Confused yet? Don’t be.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, the Adjustment card travels path 22. It joins sephiroth or sphere 5 Geburah (Severity) to sephiroth or sphere 6 Tiphareth (Beauty). This card’s Hebrew letter, Lamed – means an ox goad (or whip). That’s a pretty strong symbol for justice and the meting out of punishment, wouldn’t you say? This is one of the reasons that Aleister Crowley swapped this card numbered 8 with card number 11 – the Strength card. Which to further confuse and confound you, Crowley calls “Lust”. I won’t go into more explanation or I’ll need to write a dissertation.

Astrology

Adjustment is the zodiacal trump of Libra, with Venus as its ruler and Saturn exalted. Again, this is in keeping with the idea of Justice. The Libra Scales balance Saturn’s highest energy. The fulfillment of obligations and responsibilities, both practical and karmic.

In real-time astrology, The Sun completes its transit of Fire-sign Leo. It enters Earth-sign Virgo on August 22nd. We enter the season of the harvest. We focus on work and practical matters. We are detail-oriented and organized. Avoid perfectionism and worry to make the most of this energy.

“Just open your mind and you will find the way it’s always been…”

With the New Moon in Leo on August 18th we explore our creative powers. Venus is transiting Water-sign Cancer. We are the mother to our inner child. We nurture ourselves and heal our wounds. We know who we are, what we want, and what we value. This applies to love and relationships but extends to other aspects of our lives as well. Saturn continues its long and currently retrograde transit of Capricorn.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of the Adjustment card includes hypocrisy. Self-righteousness. Unless we’ve walked a mile in the other person’s Gucci loafers, better to hold off on a condemnation. Also, we shouldn’t expect from others what we don’t expect from ourselves. “Do as I say, not as I do” is a formula for failure under this week’s influences.

Light

Let’s focus on balancing out various areas of our lives this week. Are we overworking, overeating, or otherwise “over” indulging? Time to work in some healthier harmony. Choose the middle way rather than the extremes – we’ll be happier, better-rested and more refreshed if we do.

Alchemy

Power colors: emerald green, pale green and deep blue and deep blue-green.

Power stones: sapphire, lapis, emerald, opal, jade, garnet, onyx and obsidian. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones. They will enhance our sense of fairness, balance, good judgment. They will help us fulfill our responsibilities and obligations.

Power metals: copper and lead. Copper is the better choice for wearing. Meditate on the idea that lead is very heavy, but also soft and malleable.

Power fragrances: violet, rose, bergamot, apple, strawberry and vanilla. Also, beauty products made from hempseed, olive and grapeseed oils. These are natural, luxurious indulgences. All will help us channel the beauty, pleasure and luxury of Venus. At the same time, they will balance the responsible, pragmatic sobriety of Saturn. Justice – or rather, Adjustment is the natural, positive result.

Power foods: foods prepared with apples, strawberries, vanilla, figs, grapes, dates, lentils, thyme. Also, olive or grapeseed oil. All provide the same beneficial effects already described. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.
