Your Weekly Tarotcast™: The Chariot Tarot Card

Weekly Tarotcast™: 8-20-19 through 8-27-19

The Chariot Tarot Card

The weekly Tarotcast card is the Chariot. The Chariot Tarot card hums with “go for it” energy. It allows us to show what we have learned through experience and hard work, and to prove our abilities. We know the reason for our journey and we’re focused on getting there. We are on a journey, actual or metaphorical. We determine both the course of the journey and the outcome when we reach our destination.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, the Chariot travels path 18. It joins sephiroth or sphere 3, Binah (Understanding) to sephiroth or sphere 5, Geburah (Severity). This is Major Arcana card number 7. Its Hebrew letter is Cheth, meaning “fence”. Here is something we associate with boundaries and limitations representing a moving vehicle. Does that seem odd? Well, here’s how it works: The Hebrew word for life, living, or alive is “Cha’i,” written in the Hebrew alphabet as, “Cheth Yod”. In Judaism, this word is an emblem of charity, longevity, and good fortune. Pretty good and powerful ways of moving through the world, right?

Astrology

This card is the zodiacal trump of Cancer, ruled by the Moon, with Jupiter exalted.

In real-time astrology, the Sun concludes its transit of Fire-sign Leo and enters Earth-sign Virgo on August 23rd. Jupiter turned direct back on August 11th. We likely felt a significant turnaround in our attitudes around this time. Jupiter direct boosts our confidence and enthusiasm.

This forecast period (including the days before and following) brings us Earthy Virgo energy galore! Mars entered Virgo on August 18th. Venus enters Virgo on August 21st and Mercury on August 29th. Once we experience the New Moon in Virgo on August 30th, all personal planets are in Virgo!

The New Moon energy gives us a chance to improve our lives. We organize and refine our work. We pay more positive attention to our health. We can enjoy a period of fertility and productivity.

And this energy complements the energy of cardinal Water-sign Cancer. The cardinal signs are natural leaders and push toward new life experiences. Tenacious and determined they drive forward.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes steamrolling others. Becoming an ego-ruled driver who runs down anything in his or her path. Frustration reaching the boiling point. Acting out in road-rage over obstacles, rough patches or detours.

Light

Let’s focus on rolling along with both confidence and compassion. We can benefit by taking well-planned action to maintain a steady course.

Alchemy

Power colors: amber, green, maroon, brownish-reds, and russet.

Power stones: emerald, garnet and amber. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones. You’ll enjoy the spirit of adventure and self-discovery this card represents.

Power metal: silver. It balances sensitive lunar energies with the expansive Jupiter blessings coming your way.

Power fragrances: poppy, white rose, cedar, cypress and honeysuckle. Channel the power of the Chariot – and the charioteer – and keep moving toward your goal.

Power foods: foods prepared with watercress and dandelion greens. Season with clove, sage, cinnamon, poppy seed, anise, mint, nutmeg, sage and cardamom. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: Five of Wands

Weekly Tarotcast™: 8-13-19 through 8-20-19

Five of Wands Tarot

This week’s Tarotcast card is the Five of Wands. With the Five of Wands Tarot card, there’s competition and conflict in the air – and these aren’t necessarily negative. Be prepared to stand your ground. Don’t give up or give in but also keep in mind that conflict needn’t include aggression. Healthy competition allows us to showcase our abilities and prove our skills. Expect excited, heated discussions and debates. The rapid exchange of diverse ideas can cause the best to rise to the top. But everything can degenerate into hostility and bickering. Choose well.

The Elements

Leo Fire under the weight and pressure of Saturn lead creates a volcanic energy. It creates and destroys simultaneously.

The Number 5

The Fives of the Minor Arcana challenge the order and structure of their respective suits. They challenge the order and structure created by the energy of the Fours. Though disruptive, the fives shake us out of complacency, stagnation or stasis. They cleanse and regenerate. This keeps energy flowing so stability doesn’t become inertia.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 5. Sephiroth or sphere 5, Geburah (Strength). The sphere of Mars. Motion, storm and stress. In the suit of Wands (Atziluth). The archetypal world; the element of Fire – the will – plus Saturn in Leo equaling Strife.

Astrology

This card represents Saturn in Leo. It rules from 0 to 10 degrees Leo, or July 22nd to August 1st. If your birthday falls on or between those dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Completing a triad of fire energy, Leo roars along in the suit of Wands and the sphere of Mars. But Saturn represents a heavy and unyielding resistance and weight. So, we have a strong, active planet in a fiery sphere and a fiery sign. All perfectly happy together – almost.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit through Fire-sign Leo. Mercury too is visiting the sign of the Lion (through August 29th). Leo energy is generous, affectionate and courageous. However, the Lion’s pride can cause some friction. If you need to defend your position, do it with respect and restraint. Avoid personal attacks on others.

The Full Moon in Air-sign Aquarius on August 15th occurs in Leo’s polar opposite sign. This energy sparks our needs for friendship and a sense of community. Aquarius is intellectual and brings some much-needed impartiality and objectivity to our dealings.

On August 19th Jupiter is semi-sextile Saturn. This is practical, no-nonsense energy. It’s excellent for business dealings. It’s also great for bringing new opportunities into your life. Avoid extreme risk-taking. Don’t speculate or gamble, but an educated guess may pay off.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes recklessness. Rash action, anger and poor sportsmanship. Aggressive confrontation.

Light

Let’s focus on rising to meet the challenges we face. We can settle conflicts and disputes with the best possible solutions and ideas.

Alchemy

Power colors: orange, yellow, red and amber (for Leo) as well as indigo and black (for Saturn).

Power stones: rubies, diamonds, amber, onyx, obsidian and jet. Wear these as jewelry or carry as power stones. They will enhance strength, perseverance and persistence along with creativity and pride.

Power metals: gold (Leo) along with lead (Saturn). Go for the yellow or rose gold! Remember that the alchemists strove to turn base metal (lead) into gold. This symbolizes transformation from our basest selves to our highest selves.

Power fragrances: marigold, sunflower, valerian, comfrey, musk and patchouli. These will provide a clear head, a strong and passionate heart, and a courageous spirit this week.

Power foods: foods prepared with thyme or sunflower seeds. Tea brewed from comfrey. Beer brewed with hops (consumed in moderation of course). All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: Nine of Swords

Weekly Tarotcast™: 8-06-19 through 8-13-19

Nine of Swords

This week’s Tarotcast card is the Nine of Swords. Not the happiest card in the deck, that’s for sure! Very few cards in the suit of Swords bring cheer when they show up in a reading. It’s hard to find the positive benefits here, but they do exist. We have to be willing to look for them. That’s the only way to overcome the downright stupidity and meanness that this card embodies.

The Elements

Here is the element of Air (mental energy) whipped into aggression, conflict and anger. The result is despair, depression and self-torture. The relief for this “agony of mind” is the courage we can gain from a seriously necessary reality check.

The Number 9

The Nines of the Minor Arcana bring things to a conclusion. They represent integration, fulfillment and attainment. Unlike the nines of the other suits, this card is most unpleasant. On a higher level, this card shows us that we can use fear to guide us on our path to maturity. Sometimes we must be cruel to be kind. Like surgery, removing disease causes pain and risk but is worth the end result.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 9. Sephiroth or sphere 9, Yesod (Foundation). The sphere of the Moon. In the suit of Swords (Yetzirah). The formative world. The element of Air – our mind, intellect, thoughts and mental processes. Plus Mars in Gemini equaling “Cruelty”.

Astrology

This card corresponds to Mars in Gemini. It rules from 10 to 20 degrees Gemini, or June 1st to June 10th. If your birthday falls on or between those dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. The challenge here: all-action Mars in all-talk Gemini, in the realm of the mind. This is torture that doesn’t even provide sadistic pleasure to the torturer. Ugh.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Fire-sign Leo. Fire energy abounds during this forecast period. Activity on August 11th includes Jupiter turning direct in Leo’s fellow Fire-sign Sagittarius. Here is a great opportunity to counteract the negative aspects of this week’s card. We can go in a new direction with projects and relationships. A change of attitude increases our optimism and enthusiasm.

Jupiter direct builds our confidence in ourselves. Combined with the concurrent Saturn retrograde, our hearts are light. We are more outwardly directed. This is a positive blessing, reversing the painful intense inner focus of this week’s card.

Also, on August 11th Mercury enters Leo. Again, our confidence is enhanced and we’re thinking in grand terms. Big goals and dreams look and feel achievable. Avoid over-confidence, egotism and exaggeration. Details can be overlooked. So can other peoples’ feelings.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes feelings of shame and guilt. Terror, misery and hate. These turned inward on ourselves or outward onto an unsuspecting (and undeserving) world.

Light

Let’s focus on using our consciences – and our consciousness – to remove the source of our “dis-ease.” We can set ourselves free from self-torment. Refrain from the torture or aggressive destruction of others.

Alchemy

Power colors: dark purple, scarlet red, azure blue and emerald for Mars and orange or mauve for Gemini. Normally combinations of colors are a good idea. But this week we want to choose either the lightness of Gemini or the strength of Mars. We don’t want to reinforce them in combination.

Power stones: diamond, jade, agate and topaz for Gemini. Ruby, bloodstone and garnet for Mars. Wear these as jewelry or carry as power stones. They will help you to avoid cruelty, stupidity and mean-spiritedness.

Power metals: mercury and iron. Neither is great for wearing, but mercury reminds us to be adaptable and go with the flow. Iron is a good reminder of strength and endurance.

Power fragrances: hazel, wild rose, allspice, pine, and tobacco (the scent, you don’t need to smoke it!) to enhance your positive thought processes and mental clarity.

Power foods: foods prepared with parsley, dill, thistle (think artichokes!) allspice, cayenne, garlic, ginger and pepper. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: The Empress

Weekly Tarotcast™: 7-30-19 through 8-06-19

The Empress

This week’s Tarotcast card is The Empress. We may experience strong urges to nurture and share this week. We find ourselves and others more open, receptive and compassionate. Enjoy your home, have a party, serve comfort foods and indulge in rich desserts. Giving help and support especially to children and animals, meets with success.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life this card travels Path 14. It joins sephiroth or sphere 2, Chokmah (Wisdom) to sephiroth or sphere 3, Binah (Understanding). Its Hebrew letter is Daleth (which means “door”). A woman’s body is the door through which we all pass when we enter this life.

Astrology

This card is the Planetary trump of Venus. She is woman in all her many forms. This card embodies all aspects of fertility in every sense of that word. Allow new ideas to take shape. Do some planting and gardening. Or, find seed money for investment or projects. You may even get news of pregnancy. The upcoming week brings these and other positive possibilities.

In real-time astrology, the Sun is currently transiting Fire-sign Leo. On July 27th, Venus entered Leo where it remains through August 21st. Immediately following this forecast period, we will experience a New Moon in Leo on July 31st. This energy is perfect for exploring and sharing our unique creative spark. Let your playful, innocent side out into the world. Celebrate the child within. Better yet, encourage a child to express him or herself with joy.

Mercury stations direct on that same date. Returning to Water-sign Cancer, we’ll focus on security, home and family. We can enjoy the calm and serenity of these simple pleasures.

This fiery, leonine energy complements that of this week’s card, with some cautions. Although the King (or Queen!) of Beasts is no stranger to luxury and loves going first-class, the risk of going overboard is great. Avoid drama and grandiosity.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card: over-indulgence in sensual pleasures. Misuse or abuse of alcohol, drugs, sex and even food. Wallowing in self-indulgence to the point of egotism or narcissism. Vanity, laziness and envy of others.

Light

Let’s focus on the best energy of this card. Embrace the power of the feminine principle (no matter how we gender-identify). We can find comfort and strength inside our own skins, celebrate our bodies, and our Mother Earth.

Alchemy

Power colors: emerald green, sky blue, bright rose pink, and pale spring green.

Power stones: emeralds, opals, jade, sapphire and lapis lazuli. Wear as jewelry or carry as power stones to nurture others and take compassionate action. This provides a good balance to pampering ourselves.

Power metal: copper. Copper may have healing properties, this is a great week to see how it works for you.

Power fragrances: violet, wild rose, bergamot, hibiscus, magnolia, plumeria, rose, strawberry and vanilla. These enhance the balance of self-care and other-care. For a treat, take a candle-lit bath using pink candles and natural mineral salts. You’ll be channeling the positive energy of the Empress in just a few relaxing minutes!

Power foods: foods prepared with apples, strawberries and vanilla. Teas brewed from rose hips or hibiscus. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Your Weekly Tarotcast™: Ten of Cups Tarot

Weekly Tarotcast™: 7-23-19 through 7-30-19

Ten of Cups Tarot

This week’s Tarotcast card is the Ten of Cups. The Ten of Cups Tarot card meaning is contentment and satisfaction. This week we’ll enjoy being with our families and other loved ones. We can feel emotional stability in all our personal relationships. This includes romantic relationships too! Take time to show your appreciation for friends, family and your significant other. Gratitude will help you to experience the joy of this card’s influence and energy.

Avoid becoming smug. This card’s energy can lead to self-satisfaction and entitled behavior. There is a tendency to become restless, dissatisfied and contentious. We want to shake things up just for the hell of it. Happiness can be fragile. Sometimes fulfilling a desire causes us to reject the very thing we’ve gotten. Use caution around the major pitfalls of this card.

The Elements

Here, Water’s placid, peaceful and passive natural flow is set to boil from Mars’ fiery heat. The boiling disrupts and the steam dissipates.

The Number 10

The Tens of the Minor Arcana represent completion. They are the manifestation and culmination of the energy of their respective suits and elements.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life this card represents the formula 10. Sephiroth or sphere 10, Malkuth (Kingdom). The sphere of Earth, the material world. In the suit of Cups (Briah). The creative world. The element of Water and the emotions plus Mars in Pisces equaling Satiety.

Astrology

This card corresponds to Mars in Pisces. It rules from 20 to 30 degrees Pisces, or March 11th through March 20th. If your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. This is not the most comfortable astrological pairing. Mars energy is restless, disruptive and aggressive. It is a marked contrast to Pisces’ spirituality and peacefulness.

In real-time astrology, the Sun entered Fire-sign Leo on July 22nd. The Fire and Water theme continues throughout this forecast period. Mars is currently transiting Leo (through August 18th). Fire energy is further enhanced by Venus’ entry into Leo on July 27th. This energy complements that of this week’s card in its most positive aspects. It is warm, sociable and affectionate – perfect for spending time with friends and family.

Just following this forecast period we’ll also experience a New Moon in Leo on July 31st. This energy is perfect for exploring and sharing our unique creative spark. Let your playful, innocent side out into the world. Celebrate the child within.

On that same day, Mercury stations direct in Pisces’ fellow Water-sign Cancer. Tensions should begin to ease. Communication and travel become simpler and more successful. Cancer’s love of security, home and family becomes more peaceful and serene. Remember though, that the same cautions around this week’s card still apply. Happiness and harmony can give way to storm and stress.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes feelings of having too much of a good thing. Being fed-up (filled up or overstuffed) with something. A good example: a party guest has a few drinks and is feeling good. Then he has a few more, gets sloppy-drunk, and winds up sick and barfing all over the host’s carpet. Be forewarned.

Light

Let’s focus on being thankful in the present moment. Realize that all good things both increase and decrease in cycles.

Alchemy

Power colors: red and scarlet for Mars. Flecked silvery-white for Pisces (like fish scales!)

Power stones: rubies, bloodstones and garnets (for Mars). Sapphire, emerald, amethyst and aquamarine (for Pisces). Wear as jewelry or carry as power stones to stay aware of the need for gentleness and gratitude this week.

Power metals: tin and iron. Neither is good for wearing. Both can remind us to find the happy medium. The middle way between flexibility/adaptability or rigidity/aggression/violence.

Power fragrances: rose, thistle and pine will muster up Martial courage and purpose. Pisces heliotrope, carnation and poppy will smooth out the bumps.

Power foods: foods prepared with allspice, ginger, cayenne pepper and garlic will enhance Mars’ energy. However, avoid them if you’re feeling restless, careless or aggressive. Try Pisces’ clove, sage, poppy, anise, cinnamon, mint or nutmeg instead. Careful combination can produce harmonious results. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.
