Ten of Wands: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

Ten of Wands: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

  5-11-21 through 5-18-21

Ten of Wands

The Ten of Wands is this week’s Tarotcast card. This card is a warning against oppressive control. The Ten of Wands represents the ways in which we imprison ourselves in cages of our own design. This can include anything from workaholism to taking on burdens that aren’t ours to bear. Personal responsibility is important, but so are boundaries. Taking on responsibilities that belong to others can lead to feelings of resentment. This is the card of playing the martyr.

The Elements

Fire raging under intense pressure will erupt with volcanic force.

The Number 10

The Tens of the Minor Arcana represent completion. They are the manifestation and culmination of energy. This completion gives way to new beginnings.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, the Ten of Wands card represents the formula 10. Sephiroth or sphere 10, Malkuth (Kingdom). Sphere of Earth. The full materialization of energy. In the suit of Wands (the element of Fire). Atziluth, the archetypal world. Our Will in action. Plus Saturn in Sagittarius equaling Oppression.

This is not the most pleasant energy around. All the tens of the Minor Arcana cards are in the sephiroth of Malkuth on the tree of life. This lowest sephiroth represents the material world. This is where the elements exhaust their energy in its grossest – and most destructive – form.

Here is what Crowley writes of the Ten of Wands card. “This is what happens when one uses force, force, and nothing else but force all the time. Here is…dull and heavy…Saturn weighing down the fiery, ethereal side of Sagittarius. It brings out all the worst in Sagittarius. See the Archer, not shooting forth benign rays, but dealing the sharp rain of death! The Wand has conquered. It has done its work; it has done its work too well; it did not know when to stop; Government has become Tyranny.”

Astrology

The Ten of Wands card represents Saturn in Sagittarius. It rules from 20 to 30 degrees Sagittarius, or December 13th to December 21st. So, if your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Sagittarius is the most ethereal of the fire signs. Saturn’s oppressive, repressive, heavy iron boots are freedom-loving Sagittarius’ worst nightmare realized.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Earth-sign Taurus. The New Moon in Taurus on May 11th brings a new beginning. We make a fresh start. We act to secure our comfort and security. We assess our financial situations and assets to determine what we value. We also look for the things that bring genuine happiness and fulfillment. The stability of Taurus counteracts some of the negative aspects of this week’s card. However, Taurus’s stubbornness can serve to intensify the heaviness – balance well.

“Insanity laughs, under pressure we’re cracking…”

Jupiter transits Water-sign Pisces beginning May 13th. We are compassionate and imaginative. Pisces’ gentleness helps to soften the harsher aspects of this week’s card. Again, use caution. Pisces can play the martyr, so that can mean disaster with this week’s card.

“Boy, you’re gonna carry that weight – carry that weight a long time…”

We’re lucky this week! Intuition is spot-on and tuned-in. We look out for others. We give money or time to charitable causes. But it’s important to avoid escapism. Stay direct and honest.

“…take a load for free, take a load off Fanny and you put the load right on me…”

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of the Ten of Wands card abounds. Fixation, obsession, repression and oppression are rife. So are inflexible attitudes and beliefs and the idea of a punishing, vengeful God. If the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Use your toolbox with care this week.

Light

Let’s focus on what positives are available. The strength to persevere. The use of slow, structured growth to push past our internal obstacles.

Alchemy

Power colors: yellow, indigo, black, blue and green.

Power stones: sapphire, emerald and topaz enhance the light, mobile energy of Sagittarius. Obsidian, garnet, onyx and jet represent Saturn’s grounding force. Wear either as jewelry or carry them as power stones to keep moving forward. They will help to keep your boundaries secure and in place.

Power metals: tin and lead are this week’s metals. Neither is good for wearing. Both can be good reminders of the strength we find when we combine our efforts in positive alliances.

Power fragrances: carnation, sage, valerian, comfrey, musk, and patchouli. Slippery elm, thyme, and witch hazel.

Power foods: foods prepared with thyme and sage, or teas brewed from valerian or comfrey. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Two of Swords: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

Two of Swords: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

  5-04-21 through 5-11-21

Two of Swords

The Two of Swords is this week’s Tarotcast card. We can reconcile differences this week, from a prime position of equilibrium. It’s rare that we can weigh every problem and challenge with the utmost fairness. Make the most of this week’s energies of balance, justice and impartiality. We can heal old wounds and arrive at win-win solutions to complex problems.

The Elements

Here, the Air element rises above storm and strife. Reflective Lunar light illuminates and calms.

The Number 2

The Twos of the Minor Arcana show balanced but polarized states. The twos are duality. This is our way of seeing and being in the world to understand it. Here we weigh and balance things against their opposites. Good vs. bad, dark vs. light, positive vs. negative. Until we differentiate, we can’t resolve and unify.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life the Two of Swords card represents the formula 2. Sephiroth or sphere 2, Chokmah (Wisdom). The sphere of the Zodiac, the Divine Masculine or Yang energy. In the suit of Swords; Yetzirah, the formative world. The element of Air – our intellect and mental processes. Plus the Moon in Libra equaling Peace.

Astrology

The Two of Swords card represents the Moon in Libra. It rules from 0 to 10 degrees Libra, or September 23rd through October 2nd. So, if your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Swords are the suit of war, disruption and violence. The old name of the Two of Swords card was Peace Restored. We can look at this card as a welcome but temporary break from conflict. We have the chance to make some genuine, positive changes.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Earth-sign Taurus. Venus rules both Taurus and Libra. On May 3rd Mercury entered Air-sign Gemini. Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo. It’s the planet of communication and intellect. In its home sign, we are adaptable, open-minded, clear thinking. We approach issues with objectivity. Curiosity is strong. We look for facts and generate ideas. We seek clear communication and the flow of information. And we’re feeling the need for speed. Mercury retrogrades later this month. Get as much accomplished now as you can.

“Peace like a river ran through the city…long past the midnight curfew…”

Jupiter (Aquarius) is quintile Uranus (Taurus) on May 5th. We see and appreciate what is unique in others and in our environment. Combined with the energy of this week’s card, it’s easy to see things from the other person’s point of view.

“I’ll carve away the worries in your heart, and I’m here to make peace…”

On May 8th Venus enters Gemini. With this transit, “variety is the spice of life.” This energy affects love, relationships and finances. Social interactions are easy but there is also some emotional distancing. It’s easier to bond on a mental level. This energy complements that of this week’s card.

“…Give me peace on earth, give me light, give me life…”

The New Moon in Taurus on May 11th brings a new beginning. We make a fresh start. We act to secure our comfort and security. We assess our financial situations and assets to determine what we value. We also look for the things that bring genuine happiness and fulfillment.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of the Two of Swords card: unresolved tensions. Indecision. An inability or unwillingness to take action.

Light

Let’s focus on fulfilling our quest for knowledge. Engage in positive, constructive, peaceful activities this week.

Alchemy

Power colors: include blue, blue-green, emerald green and silver.

Power stones: opal, lapis, sapphire and moonstone. Wear as jewelry or carry as power stones for fair assessment of people and situations. These will help us draw correct conclusions and exercise good judgment.

Power metals: copper and silver. Copper has therapeutic properties, silver is always a beautiful choice.

Power fragrances: violet, white rose, poppy, water lily, gardenia, jasmine, myrrh and sandalwood. These scents bring peaceful thoughts and calm deliberation.

Power foods: foods prepared with coconut or lotus root. Teas brewed from wintergreen (mint) or jasmine. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

The Devil: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

The Devil: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

  4-27-21 through 5-04-21

XV - The Devil

The Devil is this week’s Tarotcast card. This Major Arcana tarot card symbolizes burdens and temptations. Short-sightedness and a lack of perspective enslave us through our desires. Passivity, victim consciousness and fear dominate our minds. When we realize that we are the only ones who can remove the chains which bind us, we escape from bondage. In its highest spiritual manifestation, this is a card of creativity. It is also a symbol of Divine Masculine sexuality.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life this card travels path 26. It joins sephiroth or sphere 6, Tiphareth (Beauty) to sephiroth or sphere 8, Hod (Splendor). Its Hebrew letter is Ayin which means “eye.” Our physical “eye” is our way of seeing the world. Our other “I”, or ego, is the way we want to see ourselves and want the world to see us.

Astrology

This card is the zodiacal trump of Capricorn in which Saturn rules and Mars exalted.

In real-time astrology, the Sun is transiting Capricorn’s fellow Earth-sign Taurus. We turn our attention to practical matters. The material world – including money and other resources – is important to us through this transit. But Taurus is also sensual and attuned to the physical senses. This can be a good complement to the energy of this week’s card. Use caution around recreationals and hedonistic pursuits – otherwise, enjoy.

“Please allow me to introduce myself, I’m a man of wealth and taste…”

The Bull can also be stubborn and possessive. So, watch out for stifling or grasping behavior. This can apply to people, material objects or situations.

Pluto begins its retrograde transit of Capricorn on April 27th. This retrograde lasts through October 6th. Complicated, intense and heavy energy prevails. We can assess how we use (or abuse) our power. We may hide our motives and be less open and direct with others. Combined with the energy of this week’s card, check your motives and intentions.

“The devil inside…the devil inside, every single one of us the devil inside…”

On May 3rd Mercury enters Air-sign Gemini. This is one of the two signs it rules. Our minds are curious, flexible, active and energetic. We seek knowledge and communication with others.

“Set out runnin’ but I take my time, a friend of the devil is a friend of mine…”

Nervous energy can lead us to doing too many things at once. What sparks interest can fade in short order. Concentration and attention span are short. Conserve and focus where you can.

Back for a moment to the Tarot perspective. The traditional concept of the Devil is the personification of evil. This idea stands in contrast to its interpretation in the Tarot. The devil, or the scapegoat leads us to temptation. We sin, destroying ourselves. Terrible things befall us. Some believe that life in the material world is separate from God/the Divine. The Devil Tarot card represents that world, so to them it is frightening and repugnant. In the Thoth Tarot, this card represents sexuality, life force and creative energy.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes fear of natural urges. Self-destructive behaviors, “fatal attractions” and obsessions, hysteria and paranoia.

Light

Let’s focus on seeing and embracing both the light and shadow sides which comprise our complete Self. That way, we get a much more positive and beneficial use of the energies of this card. Spirit embodied in material form is capable of choice, action and creation. The material world is not the enemy of the spiritual world.

Alchemy

Power colors: indigo, blue-black, black and gray. Also violet, red and brown. These bring Capricorn’s strength, endurance and perseverance to our endeavors.

Power stones: onyx, jet, garnet and opal. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones for confidence and inspiration.

Power metals: lead. A good reminder of what to “get out,” especially in areas where our ego or erroneous beliefs can weigh us down.

Power fragrances: snowdrop, rose, pine, musk and patchouli. Create positive channels for determination and manifestation. Let’s harness this powerful energy toward beneficial goals this week!

Power foods: foods prepared with any of the nightshade family (potatoes, tomatoes, etc.). Thyme, allspice, cayenne, garlic, ginger, pepper, and thistle (artichokes!). Also, teas brewed from valerian and comfrey. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

Seven of Swords: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

Seven of  Swords: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

 4-20-21 through 4-27-21

Seven of Swords

The Seven of Swords is this week’s Tarotcast card. This card represents intellectual and mental fluctuation. Also healthy skepticism. Circumstances are uncertain or “the whole story” isn’t available. There is a self-protective energy to this card. It helps us guard against people who’d take advantage of us. Don’t let others take you in. The positive energy of this card roots out self-deception. It reveals the deceits of others, if those exist. The downside is tolerance or compromise when those approaches are disastrous.

The Elements

The element of Air influenced by instinctive and instinctual behavior. Our mental energy creates a false sense of security. Appeasement. Passive diplomacy.

The Number 7

The Sevens of the Minor Arcana illustrate the motives for manifestation. The balance of the sixes gives way to questioning and exploration. Disruption arises from the search for the underlying causes of action. The sevens dissolve and deconstruct.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, this card represents the formula 7. Sephiroth or sphere 7, Netzach (Victory), sphere of Venus and the masculinized Feminine. In the suit of Swords (Yetzirah). The formative world. The element of Air – our intellect and mental processes. Plus the Moon in Aquarius equaling Futility.

Astrology

This card symbolizes the Moon in Aquarius. It rules from 20 to 30 degrees Aquarius, or February 9th through February 18th. So, if your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. The moon doesn’t highlight Aquarius’ better qualities. Doubts and indecision, self-deception or deceiving others.

In real-time astrology, the Sun is transiting Earth-sign Taurus. We also have a stellium in Taurus. The Sun, Mercury and Venus are joined by Uranus in the sign of the Bull. Uranus is Aquarius’s ruling planet. This stellium forms a square with Saturn. We need freedom and change. But we also need stability and accountability. There is tension in the knowledge that it’s very difficult to have both.

“I’m my own casualty, I f**k up everything I see, fighting in futility…”

Towards the end of this forecast period, we have a Full Moon in Water-sign Scorpio on April 26th. We may experience a flash of awareness and insight. Intensifying imbalances and flaws. Awareness of others will help smooth the way. Combined with the energy of this week’s card, unflinching clarity is a necessity.

“Holy Moses, I have been deceived. Now the wind has changed direction, and I’ll have to leave…”

On April 27th Pluto retrogrades in Earth-sign Capricorn. This retrograde lasts through October 6th. Complicated, intense and heavy energy prevails. We can assess how we use (or abuse) our power. We may hide our motives and be less open and direct with others. This may provide a strategic advantage. In light of this week’s energy extra caution is necessary.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes craftiness. Slyness, cunning and even paranoia. Keep your cards close to your vest. But, outright mistrust and unnecessary secrecy will further complicate things this week.

Light

Let’s focus on the positive aspects of this energy. Accept possible disappointment but also turn knowledge and information to shrewd advantage.

Alchemy

Power colors: bright yellow, blue, silver, violet and white.

Power stones: zircon, amber, malachite, pearl, rock crystal and moonstone. Wear as jewelry or carry as power stones to help create harmony. Clarity comes to situations where there’s more going on than meets the eye.

Power metals: uranium – impossible to get or wear. Silver (perfect to wear). Silver conducts the most heat and electricity of all the metals. It is also the most reflective. Consider those qualities for amping up the positives of this week’s energy.

Power fragrances: pine, poppy, lily, white rose, gardenia, jasmine, myrrh and sandalwood. These enhance the Aquarian’s ability to tap into information and knowledge at a moment’s need.

Power foods: foods prepared with poppy seeds, coconut or wintergreen (mint). Tea brewed with jasmine or mint. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.

The Sun: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

The Sun: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

  4-13-21 through 4-20-21

The Sun

The Sun is this week’s Tarotcast card. We can enjoy rewards and recognition for our hard work. We experience success. We’re vindicated in our struggle to overcome opposition or obstacles. We bring tasks to completion.

This card is one of the planetary trumps of the Tarot. In some older fortune-telling traditions, the Sun represents the questioner. It symbolizes the face that the questioner shows to the world. Another, more modern way of interpreting this card is that the Sun reminds us that we are each a solar being. We are light-beings in physical bodies, here in the material world.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life The Sun card travels Path 30. It joins sephiroth or sphere 8, Hod (Splendor) with sephiroth or sphere 9, Yesod (Foundation). Its Hebrew letter is “Resh” (meaning “head”), and if you think about the face we show the world, that makes perfect sense. We are solar beings in physical bodies. Our brains, eyes, ears, noses and mouths occupy the prime real estate right above our necks. And these are the faculties with which we connect to our world and also with the divine.

Astrology

This card is – you guessed it – the planetary trump of the Sun (what else could it be?)

In real-time astrology, the Sun completes its transit of Fire-sign Aries this week. On March 19th it will enter Earth-sign Taurus. Mercury enters Taurus on the same day, joining Venus in the sign of the Bull.

“Sun, sun, sun, here it comes…”

The Sun, Venus and Mercury joining Uranus in Taurus form a stellium. Earth energy usually slows the pace. It’s good energy for planning a route and sticking to the plan. Uranus can shake this up and create disruption or surprises. It may feel we have little choice or control. With the energy of this week’s card, this may affect our public persona and reputation. The spotlight is on you. Pay attention because others will.

“Good day, sunshine…good day, sunshine…”

You may want to raise your professional status and make career changes. Be ready for unexpected offers and opportunities. Venus in the mix can bring a new romance out of the blue. This could involve someone in your same industry or with whom you have a business or work connection.

“I’m walking on sunshine woh-oh, and don’t it feel good…”

On April 20th the First Quarter Moon is in Fire-sign Leo (ruled by the Sun!) The Lion has a natural affinity for the stage and spotlight – even the shy kittens. This energy favors work and career advancement.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes arrogance. Egotism and smug self-assurance. This card too, has a shadow side. The Sun’s light creates shadows, so we would do well to avoid illusions or delusions of grandeur.

Light

Let’s focus on enjoying success. Cultivate optimism. Remember results come into being through intention, decision and action.

Alchemy

Power colors: orange, yellow, gold and red.

Power metals: gold is this week’s metal. Yellow or rose gold are best. Wearing gold, we can feel the positive power and glory of the sun operating in our lives.

Power stones: amber, ruby, diamond, carnelian and tiger’s eye. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones for sunny confidence and a positive outlook.

Power fragrances: marigold, sunflower, heliotrope, orange, rosemary, cedar and frankincense. You’ll feel warm, outgoing, confident and positive (but not arrogant!).

Power foods: foods prepared with orange, rosemary, galangal, cinnamon, clove and sunflower seeds. Beverages made with hops (beer!) or juniper (gin!) – enjoyed in moderation, of course. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.
